well i removed mine last weekend in Ohio - i tried the first few letters with nothing - they came off rather difficultly and left alot of residue - i then used a hair dryer and they came off much easier and with much less residue left behind... it wasn't very warm, but definitely not freezing - maybe 35-40 degrees -
so from my personal experience my original comment stands that a hair dryer isn't a bad idea.
