I live in westchester county, ny and the Infiniti dealer here (Pepe) still will not allow test drives of 6mt coupes. Is this crazy or are people still getting the same story? I can't see myself buying a car without test driving it. Can anyone from the NYC metro area reccommend another dealership?

That's ridiculous. Try Ramsey or Douglas Infiniti in New Jersey. Douglas even let me test drive a 6MT unaccompanied, twice. I ended up buying mine at Ramsey though, because they had one already on order with the the color and options I wanted (I got REAL lucky there).

I also test drove a 5AT at Devan Infiniti in Connecticut (Fairfield, IIRC, which is a bit closer to you), and I had the impression they would have let me drive a 6MT if they'd had one at the time, which they didn't.

I went to PEPE when I was looking into buying my coupe. The problem with trying to test drive a 6mt coupe is that, dealers don't have them on the lot. And, if they do have a 6mt on the lot, the car is spoken for already. Maybe you can go to a Nissan dealership and test drive a 350z 6mt.

i see i'm not the only one encountering a problem with Pepe Infiniti...when i was purchasing my coupe from them, they didn't want to let me test drive a 6mt...they kept giving me the run around "we won't have one available to test drive til saturday"...i go back saturday "we don't have one available to test drive today" i go back again "we aren't offering test drives because noone wants to buy this car with miles on it, would you want to spend $35K on a car with miles on it?"...i got fed up and told the salesman firmly "i refuse to spend $35K on a car that i have no clue on how it drives and the sort"...he goes on to tell me that i can test drive an auto, that its basically the same thing...i told him no...just be firm with them...i told them that i went to another dealer and they told me the same thing and i told them right back "if you don't think i have the money because i look young, then i think another dealership will appreciate my money that i surely have to spend on this car." i firmly said to the guy "Do you guys want my money or should i give it to another dealership?" he paused for a second, then told me "wait a minute, i'll go get the keys to this one right here..." like i said, if you are serious, then be firm with them, i think they want to konw for sure you are gonna buy the car and not just go for a joy ride. They also own the mercedes benz dealer down the street, so they think that they are too good for some people sometimes and can act rather snotty...its a good thing i got this survey in the mail after they gave me the bs....the dealership in Englewood also gave me a hassle, they weren't even really paying attention to me in the showroom until the salesmanager found out what i do for a living, all of a sudden they were willing to work with me....

Hi, I dealt with a Dianna Chiles at the Douglas Infiniti in Summit, NJ. She is very nice and even though their dealership burned down a couple weeks ago, they are still in full operation. I don't have the number, but you can go on to Infiniti.com and look it up. Good luck!

Where I bought mine in Manhasset NY on northern blvd (the very begining of LI and end of queens) they let me test drive it. Just had a bad experience buying it there with the car not being ready.

Try Park Ave Infiniti in Englewood NJ! They let me test drive my 6MT coupe 2 times ALONE (I was only 18) and a FX-35 With a 17 year old friend while my Coupe was being serviced. And I don't even have a NJ state drivers license.

I bought mine from Pepe Infiniti. They tried to pull the same bullshit with me. I told them I'm not buying the car without test driving it and they had two options. They let me test drive the car and if it drives like they say it does then I will put a deposit down right now. Or I said if they don't let me test drive the car I will find a dealership that will and I will order from them. I told them I'm ready to buy the car right now, and asked them to do my credit check and setup the financing. Once they heard that they said okay we have a car out back that somebody just cancelled. They let me test drive it, and the rest was history. Now I'm the proud owner of an '03 ivory pearl coupe. They told me that they have too many people coming in to test drive the cars and that's why they don't let everybody do it. I told them they almost lost the sale because there was no way I would buy a car without driving it first.

kudos to you dude! hey, is yer car an automatic? if it is, thats the one i sat in all day when i first went to infiniti and made up my mind i wanted a coupe too, lol....
