Valentine One installation pics
Re: Valentine One installation pics
I agree, I also don't care if a cop see it but I do care if some idiot sees it and decides he wants it.
I don't think the factory tint is going to reduce your range by any great amount. But you can't go wrong by being on the safe side.
My back window has 15% and I still get great range. I've picked up cops a little over a mile away from the front. If you have the V1 the only way they'll get you is with an instant on and when they do that there is no stopping them. You have to know how to read the detector. If you get a couple of consecutive low alerts you can bet he's in the trees somewhere hitting traffic groups so I usually back off for a little bit. I also don't speed too much when I'm alone on the road and there are overpasses, hills, trees, etc.
Another thing is to constantly watch behind you. I was driving home today after visiting family and I got "paced". That seems to be their weapon of choice lately. I was cruising at about 85 when I noticed an SUV slowly catching me. I started reducing my speed with the cruise control so it wasn't sudden and there were no brake lights. When he caught up it was blacked out with tint and I could see he was wearing a uniform. Never got a single alert from the V1.

I have mine mounted high, right below the factory sun shading.
(I also read its better to mount low[at hood level])
.....BUT then you don't get 360 protection in the G.
-You can't see mine if you standing outside of the car from any angle.
-Its low enough that it can see out 360, but not in my driving field of vision.
-Looks clean too!

Best mount for radar detection is as high as possible. This way RD sees signal before car is in full view of the radar when cressing the hill.
Best mount for laser detection is as close to your license plate as possible(in practical terms -- low in the center of the windshield)... However, that is useless setup as it will best detect when they get your speed
. Still mount it high and you may get some signal before coming in full view and becoming a target.
Either way, laser detection is nearly useless, so MOUNT HIGH! My V1 is right in front of passenger visor(peaking from under the tint) and thus can be hidden from cops simply by lowering visor.
