For all you SKYLINE wannabes....

So I emailed Yosi from J's Garage about some SKLYINE OEM parts to see if he could get them.

I was interested in the trunk and floor mats, SKYLINE license frames and maybe the MOMO steering wheels.

Anyway, here is the link to Nissan Japan Skyline/G35 Coupe/Sedan parts:

http://www2.nissan.co.jp/SKYLINE/V35...ION/index.html

Sorry, its in Japanese but if you click on the some of the links, you'll get some pictures of some kewl stuff. CLick on the left column of links inside the larger blue frame (the set of links between the 2 blue left side frame borders.) Then click on the right set of links between the right side blue borders

I especially like the rear and side view cameras, the blinking turn signal automatic fold-out side mirrors, the 2 different SKYLINE floor mats, the MOMO steering wheels.

Its amazing how many more options Nissan Japan has for their coupes, you would think Infiniti would have the same access to such cool optional Coupe/Sedan OEM parts....

Anyway, I am trying to get my friend who lives in Japan to get me some prices from Nissan Japan about some of those parts and to see if the electronics for the blinking turn signal side mirrors are compatible with US wiring and the G35's. Should be compatible......

From the YEN cost listed on the website (assuming those are the correct prices listed), those prices are kinda expensive.....

Enjoy and drool ( I did). BUt then again, if everyone gets these Japan NIssan OEM parts, our cars will start looking the same again. Damn, I wanted my G to look differently than everyone elses.

Oh well, I thought I'd share some good and interesting info....

BTW, Yosi can get these parts but I assume you could get them from a NIssan dealer directly too.....

The list price is 171,900 YEN which with today's conversion rate of 105 yen to $1.00, it would be in the neighborhood of $1630 USD. Whew......pricey....

Re: For all you SKYLINE wannabes....

you know what would be cool.. to get those projectors without the HID bulbs and ballast. I bet that is the reason why it's so pricey. I just want the projectors w/o HID's so I can put regular yellow bulbs in them. that would be super hot! If you can make that happen I would be impressed.

It seems like we've all wanted these at one point. I would love the projectors, but every one is selling the whole kit. What would be nice is to get the price down to about 800.00 that would be cool!

Re: For all you SKYLINE wannabes....

hey if you get the floor mats, will they fit since the driver and passenger sides are reversed in japan? i.e. dead pedal area...

I love that foglight kit as well...but yeh $1600 for foglights???

I don't know if half those things on the website will fit our cars without some modification.

There has been discussion about the sideview mirrors but there is speculation that they might not fit the US Spec cars. But those are dope

Re: For all you SKYLINE wannabes....

ColdFusion....lol I knew I would spark someone's interest with a potential flame thread title.

ANyway, those prices are totemo takai(really expensive). 600-700 bucks for a steering wheel and 1600 for fog lights.,...whew. Even the mats are in the hundreds of dollars US> I think you're riight though that the mats might be reversed since the driver's side in japan is opposite. You could just turn them upside down and then they would fit! lol

Yosi said he can order anything from Nissan just like the dash pieces/parts but he would probably have some markup as he would be the "middle man" and its just plain business economics. But I'm assuming you could order straight from the Japanese Nissan parts dept. without markup (although there is probably a huge markup already)

According to my source in Japan, the Skyline has slightly fallen out of favor among Japanese enthusiasts b/c the Skyline sedan is not truly a sports car since it is a sedan. They are waiting for the coupe to come out....

I am hopefully going to Japan in the fall. If I go, I will definitely check out the NIssan dealerships.

Until then, until the conversion rate improves (which will be never!), I will wait on the Japan OEM Skyline parts. Maybe if enough people write to Infiniti Customer Service, they might produce some of the US counterpart parts for the G35 similar to the Skyline options.

Lets start emailing and writing Infiniti fellas.....

Re: For all you SKYLINE wannabes....

Isn't the Skyline coupe already out in Japan as well? Do you mean the GTR? (which dropped the Skyline name)

Re: For all you SKYLINE wannabes....

well, 600 bucks for a momo with airbag doesnt seem thaaaat bad to me. without the airbag its like 200. so with the added safety of an airbag, id take it. im gonna go buy one when im in japan this summer. =)
