Dude - if you still have your bumper to bumper warranty, get your azz to the stealership. If they try to tell you your mods caused this, kindly hand them a copy of the Magnuson-Moss Act, the interpretation of which says aftermarket parts (if they are to replace the "OEM" [Original Equipment Manufacturer - I will state here that I hate when people say OEM is Original Equipment Match, because that's incorrect as the acronym was originally used] part) do NOT void the warranty.
Bottom line, for warranty purposes, replacement is not a euphemism for modification. Modification would mean any aftermarket addition. You can change OEM parts with comparable parts without voiding a warranty. You just can't add parts (e.g. plenum spacer) and expect all of your warranty to be OK. However, I believe they still have the burden of proving that the added part caused the problem in order to not honor your warranty.
I'm not a legal expert but this is the interpretation of the law as I understand it.
