Life with the G35 and LOVING IT!!!

I thought it would be interesting to post a thread sharing stories about yourself and your G35. (THis is a double post that i would like to share with all) Here is mine:

I bought my Ivory Pearl, wheat interior, 06 (6MT) G35 coupe on march 7th. I can’t say how much I love my car. It is definitely a head turner.
I came from a 99 Mazda 626 that I had since sophomore year in high school. The engine blew after 217K miles so I decided to step up and get my dream car a couple of weeks ago. A lot of people really think the car is worth more than what I paid for it because it’s such a beauty. The G35 is in a class of its own.

After finishing college in Dec 05, I got a job as a Software Engineer at RedPrairie Corp. My first purchase was not a car but a lot of my friends and coworkers that graduated around the same time bought brand new cars when they got there first real job. Subaru's, Evo's, Acura's, BMW's, etc... None of them bought a G35. Two years later and a couple of promotions I make around 74K. I gotta say, now I have the best looking car out of the group. BALLIN!!!!!!

I've wanted a G35 coupe ever since they came out. The mileage on the car when I bought it was 11,451k now it is 12,866K. That is a lot of miles for 1 week but I have been driving all over the place. Is that natural? Every time I leave the car I look back at it and smile it’s almost like it talks. (JK ) Must be the new car syndrome! When I see other G35’s on the street they are always looking and nodding. G35 owners must be family.

I’ve been dating my girlfriend for 4.5 years now and she loves the car. She always wants to ride in it. I want to teach her how to drive manual but not in my new ride. I was thinking about renting/borrowing some car to teach her so she will know how to drive just in case I wanted to have more than a couple of drinks at dinner or during a party. Anyone taught themselves or your partners how to drive manual in the G?

I would post pictures but I don’t have digital camera at this time. I’m waiting to buy my Nokia N95 phone so that I can have an all in one device. I like things that are simple.

When I read through a lot of these threads people are always saying watch out for the mod bug. I don’t think I’ll be doing any performance mods. I may put light tint on the windows and buy a double din unit that has GPS because the car doesn’t have a navigation system. I do have GPS on my blackberry 8820 and the Nokia N95 I am going to purchase also has GPS.

I know this is a public rant about my life but I am so happy to be a G35 owner. Thanks G35driver.com (please fix the server so that the downtime doesn’t happen anymore) I felt like my family left me.

I got my 04 coupe, AnGelina, back in January 05.
Anyway, here's my public rant:

Before I got the G, I was dating one of the hottest cougars, ever. I had been saving my cash so that I could get a place with her, although I had been eyeing G's since they debuted in 03. Anyway, the dumb b**** played me after about 3 months of going out with her, so I raised my arm and gave her the big MIDDLE one and went and bought my G with the money I had been saving to move in with the the bish.

I got a killer deal on it and have been the proud, happy owner since. I've been thru a lot with this car; done a lot with it and done a lot IN IT! (wink wink) lmao. I think it's a G driver thing, because I laugh how some people say you walk away from your car and look back at it. I do that all the time; I'm even paranoid about setting the darn alarm. I'll hit it once..twice...even 3x just to make sure it's locked. lol.

The car is my daily driver, but I'm almost at 60k miles on it, so I'm hoping to be able to garage it real soon and get a POS car to commute to work with to L.A.

I get a lot of people that love my ride, saying it looks cleeeeeaaan, even when it's at its dirtiest.

I get a lot of haters too asking me when my lease is up, or asking which one of my parents pays for me to drive it. I give them the middle finger and tell them I'll tape'em a copy of the pink slip to the window of their POS when I'm done paying it off in a year or so. LOL.

Overall, I love this darn car. It's probably the best and most satisfying purchase I have made in a long time.

Ah ajwade, I used to be like you. Not an old-timer here since I just got my G35 last August, but I started off only wanting a DD for my ipod.

Seven months later, I woke this morning to chrome OEM wheels, lowered on z springs, z tube, OEM front chin spoiler. Yet to be installed but patiently waiting in my house are stillen sways, a motordyne 5/16 spacer, taillight bat overlays, and a grounding kit. Thinking hard about a Ritchie front strut bar, an upgrade to the Bose system, and maybe a CAI.

If you go another 4 months without doing anything to your G, I'll congratulate you.

If you don't and start following the examples of the many fine members here, I'll congratulate you.

You're in a no-lose situation!

I made the switch from an 02 RSX to my 03 G35c. Must say it is a very BIG improvement and I'm loving the car more and more everyday.

Oh man I thought I was the only one who would turn around and look at my car until it was finally out of sight. Or I was the only one who hit the lock button a handful of times.
I threw a bunch of subs and junk from my old car in yesterday, but I was taken by a 300C today at a stoplight. I think that caused the bug to bite me, I'm taking the subs back out tomorrow and thinking about some more weight savings in the back by tossing the spare and jack on top of the tire pile in my garage, and searching the net for a 5/16" spacer and other bolt on mods to get a little bit of extra edge.
The sound system is nice, but performance is always number one in my book.

Well back in April of 06 my wife and I needed to get another car being at the time I was off on Sundays and Mondays. I told her that I was tired of getting up extra earily on Mondays to take her to work so I could have a car to do things other than sit at the house all day. If I didn't then she had to get our son from school on her lunch break and bring him home. All in all it was a pain in the a$$. So I went looking to see what I could find with the buget that we had. Well with the job I had I couldn't afford my G at the time so I stuck getting a substatute car, a Civic. Well I dealt with it at the time but shortly after I was promoted to a management postion and the money started rolling in.

I started just after Christmas looking in the Autotrader, going to dealerships and test driving a few Gs, and researching online. Just over a month ago I finally convenced my wife to go and look at one with me. She loved it. We left the dealer empty handed mainly because the sales manager was a total a$$hole. I have always been brought up that a husband and wife work together to make decisions like that and he had the nerve to tell me that I needed to step up and be the man and tell her that I was going to buy that G whether she liked it or not. I looked at him told him he was out of line and he walked out. I told the saleman that I was leaving because the salesmanager was a dick. Low and behold the salesmanager was outside talking to my wife trying to convince her to let me get it. To make a longer story short I said a few choice words to him and left in my Civic.

The very next weekend, which was the weekend after Valentines Day we went out again and that is when I got my G. Needless to say I have to agree that I look at mine everytime I get out and walk in the house or in the store. I haven't done much to it yet but all in due time.
