considering that im on my third engine under warranty, my car falling is falling apart from the inside before the outside is. I think the G engine will last about 150k. 4cyl engines go 200k, 6's tend to be a little less.

The VQ in Maxima's have easily lasted 250k. Nissan's 6 cylinders are waaay better than their 4s so expect the VQ to last longer than the QR.

Yeah... a well built V6 in general usually lasts longer than typical 4-cyl given the same driving conditions. A lot of people get 4 cylinder motors to last a long time because more people who have 4 cylinder vehicles tend to drive them lighter than bigger motored vehicles in general.

Tacomas, for example, a properly taken care of V6 Taco almost always outlasts a properly taken care of 4 cyl Taco(most people get 220-250K+ out of their V6's without a rebuild, whereas you won't find many 4-cyl's Tacos with that much that are still running on stock internals).

Of course, a lot of this depends on an individual motors build quality... a crappily put together V6 might not last as long as a well built 4-cyl... but in general, with a V6, you're distributing a lot of the wear/stress of acceleration across more parts/cylinders... plus most V6's tend to tach lower than a 4-cyl so they spin less revs and can also usually move the vehicle in general at less revs due to more torque. Less revs usually means a motor can last longer.

Close but, no prize, you my fair friend overshot. My 2K SE Max has 215K and the engine will go out any day now. It's been pampered like a baby since day one. My mechanic told me years ago that, well taken care of, its a 200K engine. My G has 8K and I'm gonna try to baby it and once the max is gone, get another beater. Hope the G lasts a good 160K or 175K, so that I can get a new G37 at that time.

sorry to hear about your 5th gen. quite a few of the 4th genners have done 200k+ mileage w/o a propblem. my 4th gen max is only at 150k but still running strong. The way i run this g35 engine though...i doubt its going to last 150k

definetly expect the car to last 250k+ i have an infiniti I30..vq30, with 180k on the clock, it was nitrous sprayed with a 100 shot with probably close to 50 passes at the track and still runs strong. only major repair on that engine was the alternator...and thats not even major
