a NEST in my block???

well my g has been somewhat out of commission for a while due to the fact im doing some work on it..i was poking around checking my pulley's and noticed what appears to be a nest of some sort in my block..there is a small opening on the front of the engine(shown in the below pictures)...how should i get this out,and how hard will it be, i plan on putting some kind of mesh or guard over this opening once the problem is resolved...has this happen to anyone on here before?

a few people have had mice/rat in their cars... you better make sure there's no critters stuck dead somewhere inside your block..

Thats nothing man! I had more motors trashed than you have had cars, most likely. It could be mice. That's what were in mine. Air hose works great, or a skinny hose vaccum to get the heavy out. A few cats fixed that problem.

Happens in Canada all the time if you leave a car parked, the mice need a warm place to hang out. They also seem to like air filter housings.
