Amazed- pic
Im just baffled by the quality of paint Nissan has used for our coupes.
After close inspection, there are marks on the body ( door panel)where the paint has chipped off. I have no clue how this would happen and my only real guess is rock debris from cars parallel to me.
Is this just happenning to me?
You see the white dot, that is where the problem is. The other things are just the relection of clouds in the sky!

I'd compare Nissan/ Infiniti's paint to the same level as Maaco paint. I'm guessing nissan used 2 coats of paint and a small amount of clear coat.
Mercedes has nice paint for sure.

My hood and front bumper are a mess as well. I got OB though, which shows even worse. I use a touch up pen from Nissan. The pen has a clear tip on one side and the paint tip on the other side, its real cool. Lately i have been slacking and just using a sharpie on front bumper. Just dont tell anyone i am doing this ok

Sorry to beat the dead horse again
Sorry to revive this thread.
Looking at the lack of quality paint on most cars today I see where they save money.
98% of the cars out there have that orange peel affect. Robots paint cars and the computers that control them know by the smallest teeny tiniest if they used to much paint. They are programmed to just cover the car, not to make 4 passes and wet sand and then add 4 coats of clear coat.
Ford back in the early 90's was using some really nice paint and stopped using it. It had a very wet look to it.
Only car's in the 100K price range have nice paint. I was looking at a Bentley continental GT the other day while I was stopped at a red light and the paint is flawless.
Remember most businesses today have committee that sit around for a week and go over every part and idea from each department and figure out the one thing that Execs want to hear. "How can we save money"?
Electronics? "We found a parts supplier in China that can make capacitors, all 50 types of capacitors we use in the Infiniti line"
The consumer doesn't know that and in 5 years the capacitors start to leak and then you have weird things like "how come my AC and heater come on when the system is off? Or your LCD's start going wacky for no known reason.
Or better yet that smart dude in Canada figured out that by using several copper wires that grounding the chassis would help negate the Electromagnetic Interference that was being caused by all the electronics because car companies don't harden their electronics, that cost too much money. Then that is passed on to the consumer and everybody is ridding bicycles because they can't afford an Infiniti
Interior dept? We found a manufacture that makes gadget control buttons that will last 4 years and after that the consumer will start feeling a hollow portion in the middle of the button and then it starts to crack. ( I know this first hand on climate control buttons in Ford cars, they used to be solid pieces of plastic and then went to hollow center ones.)
We found a Yak farmer in Mongolia who can provide us with 1 million yak azz hides so we can make leather seats. The seats will last 2 years with the average American sized azz getting in and out of the seats.
In the end all these parts and supplies that are gathered up to make cars cost money and when you are dealing on a mass consumer scale the numbers really start to become significant. Something as small as a plastic **** for the Flux capacitor on the engine could cost several million dollars.
China is now going to account for 90% of all mass produced products.
Nothing is ever fixed anymore we just throw it away and get a newer better fancier one.
I call it Cell Phone obsolescence and now cars are even more so are following that same plan. "Crap! My cell phone is a year old! It's broke! The pretty paint is all worn away."
Crap my car is dying we can't figure out what's the problem, throw it away you just finished paying for it, what's another 4 years of car payments.

^^^That post actually made me laugh as it is completely true. The bean counters have for many years stopped putting grease fittings on front end parts so they wear out just after the warranty is over.I just cant understand the mentality of saving about 25 cents a car and passing off the repairs to the consumer.
