Re: I crashed my G
#'s for the Sedan with comparable damage:
Fr Bumper cover... $219, 2h labor @ ~$40
Refinish .............~$70
L Fender panel......$260, 2h labor @ ~$40
Refinish..............~$78
L Front door shell..$$533, 5h labor @ ~$40
Refinish..............~$65
R Fender panel.....$260, 2h labor @ ~$40
Refinish..............~$70
2 Wheels.............$800 per, .3h labor @ ~$40
2 tires..................$variable
These are numbers for the sedan, and are list price (which is what your insurance company will pay). It's not 100% accurate for the coupe, but it'll give you a good idea of what you're looking at. You might consider throwing the $1,500 they'll give you for wheels and tires into a different set. Hope you don't have any mechanical probs... good luck and let us know,

Re: I crashed my G
WOW that weird, I did the SAME EXACT THING. I was coming around a turn yesterday and forgot the VDC was off and the roads were wet and slick, and I did a 360 lucky no one was coming on to the middle divider which was grass with a foot high curb... Lucky this happened now cause ive been botttoming out cause my g is low and was getting the front bumper repainted anyway. The whole under plastic lining unclipped and the fenders wheel lining also, my bumper is also hanging down 1/2 an inch on the drivers side!!! Well img ettin it fixed monday hopefully you get good deals on yours. Sorry to hear what happened, now I have to be carefull with my VDC, i turn it off while starting the car by instinct lol its a bad habit now! iLLG

Really sorry to hear about your accident and I hope you're ok. But it makes you the latest member of the "shut off VDC/trash the car" club. Many others have done almost the exact thing you described. Most of them leave VDC on now unless they're SURE they know how to deal with the car's power oversteer tendencies without it.

Re: I crashed my G
This thread should be retitled "Top 10 Reasons Not to Turn OFF the VDC." I've never turned mine off, and now after reading this, I don't think I ever will.

Re: I crashed my G
I, too, had an adventure the other night forgetting that my VDC was off. It was raining and I took one of my favorite right turns onto a four lane road and got her too far out. I was looking directly at the curb on the right while sliding completely sideways. Fortunately, I got her back a bit, but she then decided to swerve to the left over the oncoming lanes. Thank the lord that no one was coming the other way!! Anyhow, I slammed on the brakes and stopped her about 10 feet short of hitting the curb on the other side of the road. No damage, except to my ego. I now have a renewed respect for my G and will not be turning the VDC off again...

Re: I crashed my G
wow, sorry to hear that...everyone who turns the vdc off and gets gas pedal happy has to always remember, you need to learn how to walk b4 you can run...if yer gonna drive with the vdc off, learn the power characteristics of the car and ease into it, the rewards of a controlled slide are endless...sometimes i start to think that they put the vdc there because they know how tail happy the car will get without it in the wrong hands...i've had my share of "vdc-off" slides around turns, but i'm still not confident enough to say i can turn it off everytime i turn on the car...good luck with your car dude...

Re: I crashed my G
Personally, I don't even try to go into a powerslide. What happened to me was purely accidental.
You really don't realize how much oversteer this car has until you screw up. I think even in C&D magazine or one of those big car magazines, they reviewed the G35C and one of things they said was something like, "Turning the traction control off is a safety hazard in this car." I thought it was pretty funny because I was able to relate to that...
