ljn,
i went to success auto tech last week and had my brake pads done for $120. While eating across the street, the shop called me about 30 min later and told me that my ac belt and alternator belt was cracked, and needed to be replaced. They quoted me $120 for these 2 belts and said that fixing it was imperative because "you never know when it's gonna break, and if it does it'll mess everything up" . Needless to say, i paid him another $120 for 2 belts.
My concern here is that..... my car only has 45k miles on it. Does it seem rather odd for these 2 belts to have cracked so early? I've driven my previous car, which was a lexus is300, all the way up to 200k miles and to the best of my knowledge never replaced them.

Depends entirely on the age of your car, if it's an 03' or 04', it's four tofive years old, that stuff starts to crack slowly after two to three years. Anyway, belts are part of maintenance and have to be replaced (hopefully before they're too cracked).

Will...I had my a/c and drive belts replaced around 33k. Cerritos Infiniti wanted an arm and a leg so I took it to Firestone Auto Care next to the Target in Alhambra. I don't remember how much they charged me but they didn't use OEM parts. Every morning during startup, it squeaks for 2 seconds.

Hold on Will...now that you mentioned that, yea the mechanic at Auto Tech suggested I replace the thermostat assembly because he's had 4 G35 coupes, all 2003, come in for that problem. Since they were out of warranty, he replaced them. I haven't heard of 05's having that problem and if anything, the next time you take it back to Cerritos, have them run a diagnostic check for that. Don't change the thermostat assembly if you're under warranty!

What in the world?
I just got my G35 but to hear some of the prices people are quoting on this forum for a simple brake change makes me cringe.
It's not that hard to change them yourself. Just go buy the OEM pads and invest in some Sears tools and jackstands.
Get a manual and do them yourself. There are even proper brake kit tools that are sold on eBay for less than $30.00.
Changing pads out on the Fronts will probably take less than 30 Minutes per side.

I just got my 30k service done in Metro Infiniti for $550 One of the Taiwanese Rep quoted me $1900 on 4 tires because mine need to replace soon. He also said he can buy them for me first and i could pay him when i come in and change it. I was like WTF? Try to me rip me off!! I was about to report his a** to his manager but I didn't. I when back the second time and other Rep quoted me $1300 for 4 tires (sound more reasonable) but still expensive. I hate the stealership.

How did they determine that you need a thermostat? Was it malfunctioning or are they claiming "preventative maintenance"? Is 45K the recommended interval in the owner's manual (I don't have mine with me).
You're not replacing the rear diff. You're replacing the rear diff oil. Follow the recommendations in your owners manual for this as well.
Owner's manual = G35 bible. Don't believe what the heathen's tell you.
