04 G35C with 18 Inchers - same size rims on Front vs back?
04 G35C with 18 Inchers - same size rims on Front vs back?
Hey guys. Some bimbo cut me off the other day and ran me into the curb so I trashed my front rim and tire on the passenger side. I am looking to pick up a new ones (used if I can find one in good shape) and wanted to confirm something.
On an 04 G35C with the 18's (7-spoke), are the front and rear rims the same? I always thought the rears were wider since the tires are but looking up the specs on the wheels, it seems they are 8 inchs wide on both front and back. Is that correct? Does that mean I can get any 18" 7-spoke rim (but have to make sure I get the right sized tire on it of course)?
Thanks
Ernie

Thanks for the fast response SEGA. So they are the same - I'll be.
Let me ask another question then, what about the TPMS sensor? If, by some chance, I got another rim that already has the front tire on it for the correct side of the car, would that mean that the Sensor would have to be changed? Or are the sensors generic and not keyed to the car via special frequencies in some way?
I remember that they added the system after something like the 2003.5 G's so there is a chance I will have to do a swap anyway. Can it be done without having to remove the tire or is it too tight in there? (sorry, I guess that is 2 questions).
Thanks again.

Actually the wheels are different. I noticed on my car that the rear wheels curve in more from the rim to the center than the fronts. On the front wheels the spoke comes out nearly flush with the rim of the wheel, but on the back wheels they don't.
Just to make sure I wasn't crazy, I did call the dealership this morning and asked. They verified that the front and rear wheels are different parts.

Your the man poli, thanks! You have saved me what would have been a big headache.
Well, the search goes on to try to find one used in good shape. Didnt think it would be this hard...
Thanks

I think the ECU has room for 5 TPMS codes. A dealership can reprogram new codes for you. I was quoted $55 yesterday for this service from an Infiniti dealership. I'm not certain if they have to dismount the tires, but they shouldn't have to.
I guess you'll find out!

The rims are different in the fact there is no space on the back rims to accept the extra lug/bolt thats on the front rotor. The Factory put that on so you can not rotate rear tires/rims to the front.
If you remove the bolt/lug off the front rotor, you will be able to use a rear rim as well. Anyone who put on aftermarket rims knows what I'm talking about
The front rims have a space that allows the rim to mount over that lug.

GR8TG35, thanks for the tip.
I just took off my front rim a little while ago so I can have it ready if I find a good one used and need to swap the TPMS sensor. I saw they bolt you were referring too. Simple enough to deal with.
I move the tire next to the rear wheel to compare the too and I honestly could not see a difference. The shape of the tires plays tricks on you since the fronts are narrower but after staring at it for a while, I concluded that the look exactly the same. But I am no expert...

The wheels are exactly the same, its just the PIN thats connected to the front rotors thats preventing you from putting the back wheels on the front. Also like you said, its the size of the tires thats throwing you off.
