When I got my truck, it was a few years old (about the same as yours) and had these ugly black decals on the side of it. I wanted them off but was worried about the fade since it was a few years old and everyone was telling me that I would have a problem but figure what the heck. At first, you could tell that something was there mostly I think because of the clearcoat being so clean without all of the micro scratches and marks that cars naturally get from dust, debris etc. But after a month or two it was noticeable better to the point that I could barely make them out. After I would say 6 months, you wouldnt have even known they were there.

Granted it was not black paint so I am not sure how much of a difference it will be make but you would probably be fine.

remove it, i removed the emblems on my black civic and it was pretty easy, just use some goo gone and i used a nice soft cloth and took my time(like that guy was saying) and it looked awesome(when i still had my civic), i was lucky and didnt have any side moldings or pinstrips on my g. im pretty sure your not going to have uneven paint or anything it should be fine. gl with removal

Yeah get rid of the moldings. And why is there a pin stripe on there? Did it come that way?

They basically use an abrassive, non-commercial polish that's still safe for the paint and clearcoat... something like that. You can always buy a bottle yourself, if you can find it.

The molding was the first thing I noticed when I looked at you're coupe. I remember a few months ago when I was still considering the G, I saw a real nice one except it had those weird moldings. I almost threw up!

Thank you guys for the info... I'll be heading down to a friends shop to do this in a couple weeks as I don't want to take any chances with my paint..

Yes the pinstripes came with the car because it was owned my a 51 year old lady... Those side moldings have never saved my door from anything either. Especially this one time I was sitting my car with the windows up and a dumb a$$ blonde gets to her suburban, opens her door and just hits my door and leaves it leaning my car.

Thanks for a heads up. I just removed my moldings a few minutes ago at work
the car looks sik

the paint is definitely uneven, I'll try something on my own and wait a few weeks till the sun gets there and then polish the car.
