My 1st slips

I know before anyone gets on my *** about being a bad driver, I was making a few mistakes while shifting and other things. It was my first time at the track with this car, so I learned quite a few things. That last timeslip is against a modified 350Z though.

I'm pretty happy that my best time was less than .2 off of what the professional drivers could accomplish for Road & Track magazine.

Re: My 1st slips

I thought there was supposed to be a speed section opening up for timeslips and dyno sheets. What happened to that idea?

Stock tires? And what was the temperature like outside, was it pretty hot out?

Re: My 1st slips

yeah, stock tires. I didn't even let air pressure out of the rear ones like I usually do with the other cars i've been to the track with before. First runs were just after 6 pm and it was high 70's, by the end of the night it was 72 or so out. That best run was against a new 350Z with intake/exhaust and a set of silver Nismo wheels on it. She was gaining on me hard and if it would have been any longer, then I believe I would have lost. I was tweaking though, I just wanted to get into the 14's with my G the first time at the track with her. I was surprised to look in the back of the latest Road & Track and the best time they could get out of a G35 coupe was a 14.6 That made me feel better that I was < .2 sec slower than the pros that magazine uses to get their 1/4 mile times.

No prob. "who runs mid 15s in a 280hp car?" a person who doesn't know their car yet.

Re: My 1st slips

yea, you are right. Practice launch and shifting techniques and you will hit at least mid 14s.

Re: My 1st slips

My best time is 15.1 in Palmdale California... each track is different, so you can't say some one can't drive because of times, in palmdale the best I can probably do is 14.9 to 14.8 (hot weather, high altitude, not so good grip)

Re: My 1st slips

I agree. Different tracks = different times and taking a car to the track for the first time could make a big difference. I took my G to palmdale for the first time(first time at track also) and The best I could pull off was a 15.0(adjusted would be around 14.5). I'm planning on going more often and work on bring that 60ft time down. heh

Re: My 1st slips

I went to the track for the first time in my stock G35c 5at w/ 19inch BBS RGR and Pilot sports this was my best time. It was fun can't wait to go back to do better don't let the haters discourage you keep trying
R/T: .517
60': 2.405
1/8: 9.686 @ 75.36
1/4: 14.830 @ 97.85

Twice I bounced off the Rev limitor because I was so scared but it was fun!

Re: My 1st slips

It's all good, I never claimed to be an awesome drag strip driver, did I?

GG35, What has your best time been at the track? Like someone else was saying, it was my first time at the track and I was transitioning over from being used to driving my focus there. So it's a little different. With more practice, I should lower those ETs considerably.
