Want an exaust but afraid of....
Whats up fellas , im lookin to get an exaust but i am afraid of 2 things ..One i dont want an exaust that i am going to loose power from..i have read a few threads about guys installing catbakcs and loosing power...Second i want a exaust that sounds deep and rich not ricey like a lawnmower...ANY SUGGESTIONS?????
Re: Want an exaust but afraid of....
I'm not positive about this, but I've heard that with pretty much any aftermarket exhaust, you're gonna lose low-end torque simply because you're decreasing back-pressure on the engine (someone correct me if I'm wrong). I went to the DFW Dyno Day last weekend, and the guy that did all the dynoing told me that people with aftermarket exhausts had been making lower torque all day long than people with stock exhaust (all other things being equal of course).

Re: Want an exaust but afraid of....
my .02:
There was an exhaust shoot-out that's been discussed on my350z.com. Most of the major players were tested. The search is down over there right now so it would be hard to find.
The only exhaust that lost power was the 5zigen. Most of the others were pretty close to each other in terms of gains with the Borla and Stillen producing the most. Again, most of them were within 1 or 2 hp of each other.
Some people have found power losses in the lower rpm range with the true duals like the Borla and Stillen because they have the least amount of backpressure. Sometimes the lack of backpressure is a bad thing in the low rpm ranges but it should give you more power in the upper ranges.
Sound:
I believe the consensus is that the borla has a deep rich sound. I've also heard that the greddy sp2 has a similar deep sound.
Hope this helps a little.

Search on here for when ducatiguy posted up a few videos of his G with the Fujitsubo. Exactly like the Nismo with larger cans out back, great sound from what I've heard of it, and the exhaust shootout put this and the Nismo in the top spots for keeping bottom end grunt.

Re: Want an exaust but afraid of....
i too wanted an exhaust that didn't lose low end power, and had an exotic sound, and i went with the fujitsubo exhaust.

The only bad thing about the fujitsubo exhaust system is that when you buy it, it doesn't come with the Y-pipe unlike most other companies. It has to be purchased separately for around 400 dollars if I'm correct.(I could be wrong as it has been a while since I've looked up exhaust systems)

you're right kwakman, but i think the fujitsubo exhaust sounds the best and looks the best, thats' why i ordered it. when i save up a little money, i'll purchase the jic y-pipe.
