Clock
Re: Clock
I may just be looking for an excuse to upgrade to the M3. I'm not really sure at this point. I am looking at whatever options I can find to replace the clock, but as of yet, have not found any.

Re: Clock
hey i love the G
replaced the shift **** and would replace the clock with digital if there was one.
i'm, 53, but everthing else i own is digital including my other vehicles.
just find myself looking for the time in digital because most of the time that is what i see.
why not have analog thermometers too lol

Re: Clock
Please tell us the reason you're thinking of upgrading to an M3 isn't because of the analog clock in the G35. That's absurd. I doubt it. Anyway, the M3 is in a different class as the G35. If you can afford one (2004) let alone find one, my hat's off to ya.
Re: Clock
I'm on the fence between a m3 and g35. I have invested a lot of time in the g35 before I have even taken ownership of it, so that puts 1 mark in the g35 column. However, I test drove a m3 last thursday and was floored at the feel of the drive, and the comfort of the interior. So I have started to think back at the things I do not like about the G and this thread brought back my hatred for the clock. I'm paying cash for either car I get, m3 or g35, so price isn't really a concern. I guess I just want to pick the vehicle that will cause me the least regretfulness in the future. At this point, it has become a toss-up. I looked into the maintenence costs involved with any BMW and they are amazingly high with respect to the g35. Especially considering how confident I have become to feel with doing the normal maintenence (oil/tire/tranny) through the forums and the DIY I have seen. I spent 10 months picking out the g35 as the car I would buy, so making a decision is one of my better, more efficient personality traits.

Re: Clock
I envy you Chris. If I could swing the M3, that would be my choice too. I love my G35c and think it's one of the best cars in that price range hands down. However, it ain't no M3. Again, good luck.
Re: Clock
I agree.
The M3 is an incredible car. When I sat down at the BMW dealer to talk money, the M3 came out to over $20,000 more than the fully loaded 6MT I bought.
When I called the bank and they told me that my payments would be in the $1200/MONTH for a billion or so months range, I reconsidered the G.
If money is no object, buy a Porsche or a Ferrari. Both are better than the G or an M3.
If money isn't an issue... get the M3. It is a hell of a car. It is not fair to the G to compare them.
Its like buying a McDonalds hamburger and being upset because it isn't as good as the Filet Mignon you had last week at a real restaurant.
You can almost buy two G35's for the price of one M3.
2004 G35 Coupe 6MT
Volk GT-7's/ TEIN Basics
Falken 245/35/ZR19 & 285/35ZR19
Kinetix Racing Camber Rods/ K&N Typhoon CAI

I would have done the same. $1.2 trillion for a car is just too much. Besides, it'd take over 83 million years to finish paying for it. I wouldn't want to do that to my children's children's children's children's children's children's children's children's....

Re: Clock
I don't mind that it's analog, but I still think it looks cheap.. How could you not with a cheap plastic cover (or at least feels and looks like cheap plastic... what about glass?). Too bad it's not a standard size or I'd swap it out with a movado face =)
I also don't like the black lever sticking out.

Re: Clock
I think the clock looks classy. You don't see analog clocks in cars too much anymore. Sure it could've been made to look a little more expensive, but so could the whole interior.
The clock is one of the first things that people compliment when they get in.

Re: Clock
i don't understand the whole deal with people complaining about the clock. it's infiniti's (not infinity people....please get it right) signature piece. it's like mercedes benz's round logo. would anyone contemplate getting a mercedes because "oh, i don't like that round hood ornament on the benz so let me get another car then!!!" for crying out loud people, it's just a clock. if you really don't like it, get a fat sticker to cover it up or better yet, get a cute stuffed animal and velcro it to the dash!!!! : )
