You if you think the sedan is faster........its in your head...but then again you may have gotten a bad motor [low hp] in your coupe.....Ive driven a loaner sedan....nooooooooo way did it feel faster than my coupe
Couldnt afford it when young...gonna play when Im old

if you're gonna race them both, then yes you're right the coupe is a tad faster. but daily normal acceleration, even the slightest tap on the gas pedal, it will feel the auto has more more torque, and yes it does. why? torque converters.

Re: Why..G35x seem so much more powerful than our G35c
I own a 2004 g35x and love it. However, one day i got this crazy idea that i really shoulda bought a 6MT coupe...so i go back to the dealer, ask to drive a coupe and they say "lets go!" So as im pulling through the gears for the first time, the car felt 'heavy'...and slower than my "X". I thought this was due to the fact that i was comfortable in my car and new to the 6MT....but as i kept driving, the car still felt sluggish. Yes, the 6mt is sweet, yes the car will spin tires up to third gear, but something just wasnt right. Im not an expert, so i wont even try to explain why, but the sedan (AWD) to me, is more drive-able...i toss that thing into turns and it begs for more...i downshift like a maniac and the thing just goes! OBV im biased towards my own car, but after some real-life testing........im keeping my "X".

At first, the loaners felt faster to me at low end. My coupe feels stronger at higher end. Then I did an ECU reset the same day after driveing the loaner and they both felt the same at lower RPM and the coupe felt stronger at higher RPMS. Throttle response in the sedan was still quicker to me.
There is more backpressure in the sedans exhaust. Thus, it feels more torquey (if that's even a word ) at lower RPM. At higher end you won't feel as much difference in your butt dyno, that difference will be noticed more by a stopwatch unless you gun it from a higher speed roll. That's where my coupe "feels" much more responsive than the loaner I drove.

I'm no expert but I had a G35X loaner and no way did I think it was as fast in the coupe. I actually felt it was being sluggish and thought that I can't wait to get back into my Coupe. I really felt like I noticed the 20 less HP.

There is no way the AWD sedan is faster than a 6MT coupe. No way. Look up any tests, and you'll see that the 6MT coupe is at least half a second faster . . .
But test numbers aside, you have to consider "real world" performance. And there are many many factors that effect how we perceive speed in our cars.
1. Automatics have less gears and gear ratios that pull harder especially with the torque converter. There is no finesse needed with Automatic so all you have to do is slam the pedal and you're gone.
2. Also, you have to understand how the 6MT is geared to get the best performance from it . . .You have to look at the hp and torque curves as they relate to the gear ratios, so you could figure out the optimum times to shift in every gear so you can get the same "feeling". Road and Track usually publishes a table that shows all of this stuff.
The sedan feels smoother b/c of the smaller rims, softer tires, and softer suspension. Also b/c it does not have the pilot sports it has less road noise which gives you the impression it's smoother.
6speed coupe all the way.

This all sounds subjective. AWD = heavier drivetrain. That itself will slow the car down. There's give back because the motor isn't pushing 2 "dumb" front wheels, but net net, the AWD should be several hundred lbs heavier and slower.
Now I don't know what kind of system Infiniti has incorporated... is it the less useful, less heavier, not really true AWD differential found in most cars (haldex) or is it the torsen type found in most Audis (excluding TTs)? If it's the former, then it isn't worth much in my opinion. AWD should be just that... all wheel drive, all the time. Not, "we'll engage the front wheels after we determine the rears aren't getting enough traction" type of awd, which is the haldex type.
I'm digressing, but there's no way the the X is faster than the coupe unless the axle ratios and transmissions are different.

I think this is the ...18th time(?) this has come up since I've been on this site. I've got to say I've got aftermarket rims, 18" yokos, a true-dual exhaust, and an eibach pro-kit, and my buddy with a coupe said my car still feels faster.
So, there go the "soft tires, soft suspension, less unsprung weight" and "more back-pressure" arguments. Let's find something new... there's got to be a reason that coupe owners are feeling this-- and many, many have over the existance of this sight. Far more, in fact, than haven't.
