Is the AT g35 semi-auto?

The reason i ask is because to the right of drive there is a (+) and a (-).

Is that for a manual override of shifting?

OP, don't take these posts too seriously or personally. We're just having a bit of fun.

But to answer your question, yes, the 5AT's have a manual mode. Once in MM, you can choose when to upshift, but it will always downshift for you - regardless if you are in full auto or manual mode.

Always downshift in MM? What year are you talking about?

actually it does downshift as you slow down and come to a light, not when you try to accelerate at any given speed like in auto mode.

All 5AT's will automatically downshift in both full automatic and manual mode.

Regardless which way you use it, the 5AT is still an automatic whether you're letting the car decide or in manual. All you're really doing is limiting your upshifts and manually controlling your downshifts. It's just a fancy way of controlling an automatic car like going 1 > 2 > 3 > D, etc. When you slow down, the AT will automatically downshift to lower gears whether you know it or not. Otherwise the engine would bog down and your car would shudder. If the car was a true manual like the 6MT, this would be the reaction from the car because the wheels are physically connected to the engine through the transmission and clutch. Say you're slowing down to 10MPH but you're in 5th gear. Your RPMs will drop to about 200RPM causing the engine to be very unhappy. You may even stall but you'd shake the heck out of your diff and transmission before that happens.
