I want AWD in my Coupe!

So I'm at a stop light this morning and a little gray TT convertible comes up. I can tell he wants to race because we both need to be in my lane in a few hundred yards.

The road is wet, so I'm sure this is a fools race. As expected, when the light turns green, we take off.

As my slip light blinks like mad, he easily beats me to the on ramp.

Despite the horsepower advantage, there's no overcoming the AWD of the Audi on the slipery road.

The GTR, AWD version of our coupe can't come soon enough!

I'm on the fence regarding AWD. It's nice to have and I have it on my Audi A4 however, there's something about having RWD on a sports car like the coupe. It's awesome. Besides, can't burn out with AWD.

on those nicer days.... i'd take rwd anyday.

Plus, AWD gives you a false sense of control on wet/snowy grounds.... the differentials can't help you brake in an emergency.

Hell, a friend of mine with an older (2001 maybe?) S4... crashed in the snow, no one else around him. Had snow tires on too! dunlop m2's on 17's or 16's...

Re: I want AWD in my Coupe!

The AWD on the G35x only turns on occasionally. I was doing things in the G35x two days ago that I could only dream about doing in my coupe. Taking On and Off ramps in the rain doing 60. No false sense here, the car was rock solid. I could only make the slip indicator come on once and it took some doing. I'm still happier with my coupe but the AWD was very very nice.

Re: I want AWD in my Coupe!

I would love to get an AWD coupe, but it would need more power to offset the extra weight. The GT-R should be all that but I know I won't have the cash to buy one when it appears in the US. Oh well, the current G coupe is a pretty good consolation prize.
