Would a built motor fix my oil consumption?

I was thinking if I should keep putting money in it or sell it. Since the problem is stock, and I wanted to turbo it anyways. I was thinking if anyone who has a built motor still has the oil consumption problem? Thanks

hmmm... i have heard a couple different explanations for the VQ35DE oil consumption issue. The first being that it is a piston ring sealing problem and the other being that it was an issue with the variable valve timing where oil was being pulled through during brief periods of extreme vacuum. the piston ring problem seems more plausible to me and if that is the case, yes, building the motor, or even swapping the rings and then breaking it in properly would cure the issue. It seems that people who have driven the car hard right off the lot have been luckier than those of us who broke it in as per the directions
