I did that mod to my 03. Wasn't factory. It interrupts the vehicle speed sensor.

i didnt know about a red strap between the seats lol.. do you have to dig down below the backrest and the seat?

i just bought my 05 coupe used and its like that too. whats the advantage of it and how can i change it back to the trunk release? thanks

That was 5 years ago. I found the info on this site. But I'm sure it has been removed. Safety concerns.
