for you 6mt owners out there
i haven't driven my car in three days because of so much rain and i just didn't want to get my new car dirty. i'm still trying to refine my MT driving skills at this point. i get in the car today and for the first 10 minutes of driving, oh damn - it feels like i got worse. start from stop wasn't as smooth, a bit of revving it to 2k rpm...
question for 6mt owners...how many of you out there have adjusted the clutch to catch at a lower point than stock settings? link is - clutch adjustment
i really don't want to change the clutch, but if it takes too long to get used to the car, i think i might actually end up adjusting it. i'm just curious to how many people have modified the height where the clutch engages and how effective it is compared to default settings.
is it me? or is it the car that's giving me the trouble?

I haven't tried the clutch adjustment, nor do I plan to, however I will admit the G was different from the other stick cars I've driven. The pedal is stiffer, it catches higher.. All I can say is: keep practicing bro, you'll get used to it.
As for being able to drive an Acura... That's because those MT are a joke. So forgiving and smooth.

I've been driving manual transmissions since I first started driving at age 16. In fact I've never owned an Automatic thus far(I'm 31). So, yes...hell yes I did the adjustment, this car(my G) had the worse engagement height I've ever felt. So I think the adjustment was well worth the 3 minutes that it took.

No adj here.. like the way it engages and haven't had any problems yet. Of the 4 stick cars I've owned, my wife couldn't drive any EXCEPT the G. She has no problems driving the car so I'm not that hasty about adjusting it.

I don't think you really need to adjust the clutch. It just takes some getting used to. I got used to it in a little less than a week. It's my first stick car, but i've driven acuras and bmws that were stick. Acura clutches are a little too soft and you can't really get a feeling for the clutch. I actually really like the way the g's clutch is..

I learned on a clutch, owned many, raced motorcycles and cars (drag and course), and have found no need to adjust the G's clutch whatsoever.
I would, however, like to raise the brake pedal a bit when it's under heavy load to make heel-toe easier. You only have a second or so to get that right, and if you miss it you have to jam it in to get the synchro to spin up right. I hate that.

i don't think it's NECESSARY for the adjustment, but it just might make things a little easier. i rather not change the height because it gives me something different to learn and adapt to. i'm not a person who likes to take the easy way out =)
i learned stick on two acuras a whileeee back and it was easy as pie. the first day i drove the G however was another story. hahaha. i probably just don't drive my car enough. its been 2+ weeks since i've gotten my car and it only has 200 miles on it. the more i drive it in a day the smoother i get, so i guess i just have to drive it out.
as for heel-toe, i know the aspect of it, but i'm not gonna mess with it till after i can drive my car like a pro.

I have not done the adjustment, nor do I plan to. I am satisfied with the way the clutch operates. It is very stiff, but your leg will get used to it. You should only be revving to like 1,000 or 1,200rpm at most, for a regular start from a full stop, in 1st.

Took me a couple weeks to adjust to it when I got the car, but now I'm so used to it I won't change a thing.

I left it alone. Took me a week or so to get use to it. I recall it taking some time.

hmm, i think i just need to drive it more. i don't drive it as much as i could or should. i guess if i drove it everyday i'd pick it up a lot better. most likely i'm going to leave it as it, doubt i'm gonna adjust the clutch. was just looking for input on those that did. thanks

Unlike most people who responded to this thread, I DID adjust my clutch and the difference is like night and day. It wasn't so much the engagement point that annoyed me but rather the height of the pedal itself. I had to use my whole leg rather than just my foot when releasing the clutch, which made the shifting less precise and more jerky. After the adjustment the pedal is now lower (almost the same height as the brake and gas pedals) and the travel is shorter and the engagement is much more controllable (due to foot use). I say give it a try, you've got nothing to lose. Worst comes to worst and see you haven't gained anything, just go back there and put it back to the way it was - it's a 5 minute fix.
