g35 coupe vs. 350z

last night my boyfriend called me while he was on his way home to tell me that he saw the best race ever! it was a g35 coupe vs. a 350z. he said that the g35 spanked it all the way into 4th gear leaving the 350z behind by 3 car lengths. he also said that the g35 chirped all the way into 4th. just thought i'd let you all know. i just wish i was in the car to see that race. i would've thought that the 350z would have won since it's alot smaller.

Re: g35 coupe vs. 350z

The G35 "won" because I imagine one of two things......

1. The 350Z driver was not trying
2. If he/she was trying, that person was not a very good driver or simply that the G driver was simply better.

IMHO, it would be a driver's race considering the 2 cars' similar credentials in terms of power, acceleration, etc. I don't mean to be an ***.....in fact, I'm sure it was exciting to watch as well!

Pretty cool, but the difference was probably the drivers.

Yea, I totally agree with FormerS2000. The reason for this happening was either a lack of skill on the 350Z driver's part, or he was not really trying to race. Either that, or if they raced from a roll, it's very hard to get a fair race because basically as soon as one driver takes off, so does the other one, and therefore one driver almost always has a head start.

Read the latest issue of Car & Driver. That G35 coupe was faster than any 350Z they have ever tested. Why I don't know, but it was.

Yeah, the one where they picked the RX-8 over the G35 because it has a bigger back seat and because Mazda had a nice ad budget that month.

I think with equal footing, the Z should win. Interesting though. I really wanted the Z and had one on pre-order but I could not justify the two seater with a family. No regrets with my coupe. Of all the cars I've had over the years, this is hands down my favorite. I still get up in the morning looking forward to the drive to work. Two great cars. I still want to do a meet with the Z cousins invited.

Ok....maybe, just maybe the G35 Coups is a bit faster, but I highly doubt 3 car lengths faster. I still think it would be a driver's race.

Re: g35 coupe vs. 350z

like i said... i wasn't there but my boyfriend knows what he's saying about cars. the tone of his voice sounded like he was a kid at the candy store. i thought that the 350z would've won too. and even if the g35 coupe won because the person was a better driver, then the person in the 350z shouldn't have even tried. all i know is that the guy in the g35 coupe was an old aged doctor and i know this because he lives in my town. and there are no g35 coupes around here.

I agree 100%. I own a 6MT and have put some hard miles on a new 350Z and it's driver's race no doubt.
