Haha I got schmoked
Re: Haha I got schmoked
Exactly my point. I was in no way comparing the two as a whole. We raced, in a straight line...that was the comparison. I don't care if my cars better than his because this or that when the whole point of what we were doing was to see how I hung with him. If you read the post, I was quite surprised as to how I did against him, I didn't realize these G's move that fast. Ofcourse I still got my *** handed to me, but none the less, it was the comparision that we wanted to see. So much hate on this board, its unfortunate.

Im almost tempted to ask what all of your insecurities towards Camaros are?

I have no insecurities about Camaros whatsoever. Those are the people I see driving them around here- white, big haired, potbellied, redneck women. Their husbands drive the pickup trucks, so the wives drive the Camaros. I have a friend whose wife nagged him into getting one, and it was a real POS. Yeah, it was fast, but it was also uncomfortable, the fit & finish was awful, and it spent more time in the shop than on the road. In other words it was a typical GM car. Needless to say, my friend divorced this woman. She took the Camaro in the settlement.

I bet CL55 owners (the definition of luxury 2+2 performance coupes) would say the same thing about our cars.....because to tell you the truth our car compared to a cl55amg is the equivalent to this story........so lets keep the ego's under control here fellas.

In all seriousness if a Camaro revved me at a light, I'd give him the "Im to classy to race" look....either that or get my *** handed to me

I had a bad *** Z28 try to race me on a city street last summer sometime...that thing was loud as hell, and sounded like it had an aftermarket cam in it. He kept revving his engine next to me, and I wouldn't run him, so he just took off. I would've seen nothin but taillights. It's too bad I don't have a supercharger...he would be in for the surprise of his life, although the G probably still wouldn't blow him away.

Re: Haha I got schmoked
In the 8 or so months Ive had my car only two cars have managed to scare me out of a litle fun. A EVO the other night, and an M3 a couple months ago. Hell a Harley Davidson edition F150 took me off the line (VDC on, still babying her) in september but I managed to pull.

Although I've not driven the beautiful CL55, I've driven an E55 and had a CLK55 for a weekend once, which both have the same AMG 5L V8 as the CL55 -- sure the engine is great and the sound is awesome, but I can honestly say that the balance, handling and firmly-planted, connected-to-the-road feel of my G is alot, yes a lot, better on the twisties than either of the German cars. Those cars just don't feel as stable and there's a layer of "plushness" separating you from the road.
Plus the bad Benzes only come with auto transmissions. Pound for pound the G is MUCH more fun to drive with a real world price of admission.
I've also driven my friend's 97 Z28 convertible with the LT1 engine, and it's a hoot to drive with a ****load of low end torque and a superb rumbly sounding engine -- I would never diss that car, which he claims is a low 13's quarter-mile car.
Having said that, I'll admit the Camaro does have that unfortunate hillbilly baggage (where you expect the guy driving it has that achy-breaky haircut) but the funny thing is my friend is a dentist (!) with all his teeth... go figure

Re: Haha I got schmoked
I know what your saying about MB's. I feel like a pilot whenever I drive my uncles S500. My boys C320 is also alot of ride and alot less performance.
Many will argue that their Camaro's handle better than our G's so the argument still remains the same. Also I have a feeling that quite a few CL55 owners would disagree with us.
The next-gen CL55 is getting its own tuned engine and is goint to be monster....aimed directly at the 2007 M6. If the GTR isn't here by 07' the CL55amg is looking better and better.
I'll just have to start saving my pennies

Re: Haha I got schmoked
Yeah, I'm watching the performance war between BMW and MB with great interest...
I think the upcoming BMW M6 will use the same 5 litre V10 as the new M5 (500 horsepower!)... what a beautiful car...
Whereas BMW is increasing displacement (adding cylinders -- like the next gen 335i will have a 3.6 L V8), the Benzes will probably keep using forced induction... I figure the next CL55 will use either the same blown AMG 5.0 L V8 as in the current SL55... or else the new AMG 6.3 L V8 (good for 500 horses too)
Hey if you like the fast Benzes, the thing to watch for in 2005 is the new CLS coupe... kind of like a coupe version of the S class.
Okay, I'll shut up now since this is a G forum...

Re: Haha I got schmoked
I have to admit, that earlier joke got a chuckle out of me, but you really can't stereotype all f-body drivers that way. I definitely don't fit that category, but I've always loved the '93-'02 F-bodies and wanted a Trans Am WS6 for a LOOOOONG time (I still would love to have one), but times and tastes change. The G coupe was (and still is) fresh, quick enough, classy, and even roomy in cargo space for what it is--everything I was looking for and more, so I am happy with my choice.

Re: Haha I got schmoked
Yes, all Camaro owners have mullets and missing teeth
. Look I love my G35, but my '01 SS was a much better performance bargain. And although it's apples to oranges, when people here say the G35 is more "refined"...etc...blah blah blah. Yes in many respects, it is. The leather quality is much better, navigation, etc. But I will say this, I never had to take my '01 SS in for rattles!!! and it has T-tops. I just took my G35 in for rattles from the rear panel, creaking coming from the headliner or sunroof? Rattles on my glove box, and of course the infamous seat belt rattle. sorry to hijack this thread
but I didn't expect my G35 to rattle this much when I bought it.. BUT, don't get my wrong, I love my G. By the way, I'm Hispanic with short hair and have all my teeth. All my buddies at LS1 have their teeth as well and I've only seen one with a mullet...j/k
