So I raced my friends Z28 last nite, just for ***** and giggles. Little side info, his car is a 99, and hes raced vettes before with me in the car. He always slowly walks right by vettes, and it makes the owners ever so mad. So we went out onto this highway loop by my house, basically theres 2 exits next to my house, 1 mile apart, 1 brings me to the front of my house, 1 brings me to the back entrance so its real nice for quick, spurt of the moment races like this. We went from 40 MPH, I dropped in slightly ahead of him. Second gear, nothing really happened because I jumped a lil, he stayed right on my door...however, due to the loudness of his car, I could not hear my motor AT ALL during this whole race. I almost [censored] myself when he got on it. Its alot different next to that car than it is in it. By the top of third (Oh and his gears were lasting about a second and a half longer than mine, F'n fuel cutoff) his car was infront of mine, and as soon as he hit 4th it was insanly over. It went from the two of us staying within about 2 carlengths with a steady run up third, I shifted to 4th, he put another car on me, shifted to 4th and just started walking. Definatly the most fun race I've been in so far only because watching that car pull at those speeds is amazing. We shut it down at the top of 4th, we started flying up on traffic so we both dropped back to speeds very quickly. I don't condone racing up to the speeds we did, but we were alone on a very large highway, even if it's not an excuse, always remember to atleast take some common sense saftey measures if you're going to do what we did. Hopefully, FI will come soon and I'll be more of a challenge then =)

You should have seen Greater Atlanta in 1984-1988. Talk about a mullet fest. Canton hiway which runs up woodstock used to have 20 camaros in sight at all times from any perspective - and a few 5.0 LX's as well.

Hrm, Im a huge fan of F-bodies so this post kinda went in an opposite direction than I intended. His car is a new camaro, (final gen) not the IRunOverChildren or whatever u wanna call it. Far from a hic car and it gets plenty of looks. Hell I was lookin at a WS.6 before I got the G. Just threw this up to show how we hang with a true sports car.....and before I get the usual response, yes I know thats not all the G's about but that was kinda the point of the race.

I posted this to be informative, because thats the whole point of this board. Information. Sitting there flaming my boys camaro because it pissed all over my G35 is about as mature as a certain user named KooKoo. You guys should be ashamed.

Relax, it's just not the same kind of car. It's fast, fun, and fairly inexpensive, but by no means as classy or luxurious as a G, BMW, or other sport-luxury cars. We know they are faster, and we all could have had one but don't for whatever reasons.

That said, I did try to get one but got turned down because they said I had all my teeth and my wife wasn't also my cousin. [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]

I wasn't making fun. My uncles (not white, and live in the northeast) were all z28's and IROC enthusiasts. He still has a huge picture of his red IROC on his wall and is currently looking for one to restore and toy around with. I respect Camaro's.

Wow, I wouldn't have expected all the slammin' on the Camaro. I know it's all in good fun (the "I got turned down because..." comment got me laughin pretty good), but I thought as many car enthusiasts as there are on this board, there would be more appreciation. Of course, the F-body is a very dated platform, and far from refined or luxurious, but when you're talking power-for-the-dollar, it's up there with some of the better bargains. My best friend had a 2002 Z28, and I loved that car. I think they're fun cars to drive.
