Newbie with engine question.

Just purchased a used coupe and love the car. I have been combing this forum for info and pictures to see what if any mods I need or already have on the car. It has an Injen CAI but I can't tell from other posts if this is a factory plenum. It also has blue alum drive pulleys.

The car runs sweet and I look forward to learning more here.

It looks like there has been something done to the top silver part of the engine, not sure what it's called tho.

Welcome Danno....!

From the pic you've picked up a very clean coupe, nice find. Apparently
rather than add the spacer like most of us they increased the depth/hight
of the upper plenum. (that's what it's called) This is the first time I've seen
a plenum modified like this, the idea is correct to fix Nissans design flaw.

Again Danno, WELCOME TO DRIVER AND GOOD LUCK!

Any ideas on what brand this plenum might be?

It looks like a 1-off hand welded plenum. The back half looks stock (polished though) but the front half has been hacked off and a new section fabricated and welded on.

Interesting! I bought this car from a local lot who buys all his cars at auction so I will never know who modded the plenum. I ran a carfax before I bought it and it was a one owner out of Chattanooga TN traded in at a Honda dealership in Huntsville AL then run through auction.

Who ever did it laid down some pretty nice beads with the welder. Car runs like a beast.
