complaining about grinding 6spd or drifting right?

Brought the car in for service today. Had the transmission checked and the alignment because the car has a "mild right drift".

Now I can rest easy. Everything is fine, the 6m is notchy like that. I forgot the exact words, but it is due to the close gearing. If it weren’t notchy like that, the gear would kick out.

The right drifting is due to the control arm or compression rod. A new control arm or compression rod is actually being designed to correct this minor "characteristic of the car". The car is fine how it is and your tires will not wear prematurely. I ‘am on a list to receive the new control arm or compression rod under warranty. So if this issue is bothering you, I guess you should go talk to your service department. Infiniti is aware of the drifting to the right.

About the drifting to the right if you get the knew car and driver it actually says that one of the low's of this car is the drifting to the right so don't worry almost every G does that. I thought I had a problem with my alignment till I did some research. Everything should be ok

have the drift issue, driven another person's 2 different weekends , his was fine, I have complained since day 1. It has 3 dealers, alligned at 2, although getting better not quite there. They did fix a notchy trans (going to 5th ) by adjusting some guide plates . Hopng a TSB is really coming...

I just got mine and I do also notice the slight drift to the right. It's good to know it is having a fix develop, it's not that bad at all though. Let us know when you get yours in for warranty.

wow the similarities are kinda funny. Mine drifts to the right also. I also thought I was going insane because I have driven stick for years, yet when I would really do some quick shifting I would have problems hitting 4th. Missed it several times, even during the test drive. It was embarassing becuase I told the sales lady that I could drive stick like "the man". Heh. Myabe it's time for a visit to the service dept.

Re: complaining about grinding 6spd or drifting right?

retret, I never felt the issue drifting to the right either. I did test it out before I brought it in to the dealer, it's hardly noticeable. Just take your hands off the wheel in a straight, after about 5 seconds going about 65mph you'll notice the car going to the right gradually.

Like i said, no big thing, but I just decided to bring it up to them. The car is under warranty so it doesn't hurt to say something.

To my surprise it was a known issue with them, and now I'm on a list to get something installed for free.

Re: complaining about grinding 6spd or drifting right?

I tested it again in the highway cruising @ 75MPH 3 lane highway and I stayed in the middle NO drift in 10 sec, I change lane to the left and tested it very slight drift to the LEFT as I expected, I then went to the right line and it slightly drift to the right as I expected, I think this is normal since road are designed so water will not stay in the middle...the drifting is very hard to even notice it...

yes that makes sence. I havent really tried that yet it feels like it rides pretty strait to me. I will have to test it out on the freeway.

Does that 'feathering' indicate poor alignment or bad balance or both? thanks.

I I believe feathering is allignment and lumpy is balance, not 100% sure though. either way , I have followed the rules I bring my car in they fix it ????Infiniti, where is the TSB?
