Current gen G35 coupe in 10 years
One of the reasons I went for the G coupe was because I think its design will look good 10 years later. That kind of got me thinking, which 5-10 years old car look almost as good today as it did when it first came out? Some cars I don't think stood the test of time include the Mazda MX-6 (I loved it back when it first came out) and the 3000GT (another car I drooled over back in the day). Some cars that has aged well in my opinion are the NSX and the C5 Corvette (still looks striking to me everytime I see both).
Do you think the G35 coupe has what it takes to retain its sexiness in 5-10 years? Is its shape truly as classic and timeless as some of us think? I sure hope so.

Re: Current gen G35 coupe in 10 years
I've been pondering the same question for the past couple of days. The other day, I saw a twin turbo 300z that I loved back in the day. I still like the looks of that car. True about the 3000gt though. I used to drool over that car too but now it looks old to me. The 1st gen Viper looks a little old to me now but in general, the Viper to me has retained its original sexiness. I think the G is th sexxiest thing on the road today and I can't stop staring at my car. I hope it stays that way for a long time. Who konws though. If an American Skyline GTR comes out sometime in the future, things might change!

i love my G, but i don't think G is the sexiest car of the road..
if i had my pic, i would either go with new 5 series or the 7 series...those are way more sexier than the G..don't get me wrong, i do think G coupe are real sexy..but from some angles G don't have that eye catchin look..
also i love the viper, i have been a big fan of them since the first time i saw one. hopefully get one soon

Re: Current gen G35 coupe in 10 years
I'll probably get flamed for saying this, but as much as I love the G, I think it will (inevitably) look a little dated in 10 years... but by then I hope to be driving some future equivalent of the G that is hot of the presses with modern looks and technology.
That said, I think in about 30 years, the G will become totally cool in a retro way... just like I think muscle cars from the late 60's/ early 70's look so cool today. But during the early-eighties, I didn't think early-seventies cars looked cool, back then they just looked old...
For some reason ten year old cars just look like old cars to me... but 30 year old cars look totally cool! Go figure?

Acura Legend (91-95).
The Legend is pretty similar to the G35. Came as a coupe and sedan, offered very good sport luxury performance for the price. A clean Legend still looks good today. In 1993 the Legend coupe was offered with a 6 speed transmission, 230HP engine, dual piston front brakes.
Yes, I'm own a Legend and I'm also on the acura-legend.com/vbulletin forum....

Yeah, that last Legend coupe with the third tail light integrated into the trunk lid was nice.
The first generation LS 400 still look good today. They're the ones that didn't say LS400 on the trunk lid.
Also, the SC300/400 still look good.
And lastly, the SL500. I think they kept that previous body style for almost 10 years?
More on the Legend. I don't know why they ended that nameplate. Well I do, to sound more posh with the letter/number name like their Euro competition.
Remember 10-12 yeaqrs ago how many Legends you saw on the road. Then what? Those dumb RL's that about 20 people bought, and the CL with the triangular rear?
They should bring the Legend name back. their advertising campaign could be "The Rebirth Of A Legend".

I have been thinking about this for a while now. I think that the G would still look good in 10 years. Some may agree the design is a bit ahead of its time, and I think that would only better the G's chance of still looking good in the future. The Toyota Supra still looks gorgeous 10 years later, so I hope our G's can still look that good in 2014.

Re: Current gen G35 coupe in 10 years
I think that the Supra was ahead of its time when it came out, especially the '93 - '98, if I had the chance to buy a brand new supra for a decent price, i'd probably buy it just because I really like it.. The G will probably be somewhat the same and will be like the reign of the Supra, but to me as someone said above the G doesn't look good from some angles, but I think the Supra looks good from every angle..

Re: Current gen G35 coupe in 10 years
Well, just got back from a trip in my time machine, 10 years into thie future and the G still looks good and sexy and draws attention. I just sold an 88 T-Bird Coupe in mint condition. I had minor cosmetic mods. The car still drew looks until the day I sold it. In fact that is why the present owner bought it for about 1/3 of what I originally paid. If we keep our G's nice, I believe the shape will hold into the future. Oh by the way I think the picture displayed in one of these posts was a skyline and the other a BMW M-5. Both were sweet.

Re: Current gen G35 coupe in 10 years
Honda still sells the Legend outside of the US... While in Aruba in 2000, I saw a Honda Legend on the road. It looked just like the RL. Maybe someone just rebadged it?
Oddly enough, it was funny to find a 1.7 EL Acura in Montreal. Do those sell well? I know Infiniti had trouble selling Sentras, erm, G20's in that market segment. It didn't look any more upscale than the Civix EX, though.
I'm a fan of the '78 Trans-Am. I love seeing one of those in great condition on the road. Maybe because my dad thought he was Burt Reynolds in the 80's, but that 400 big block could really haul, too. :-)
I agree about the SL500 -- it was on the market 12 model years (90-01?) and still looks good today. I think the '90s S-class in general has held up well.
I'm hoping the G will hold up well, but that may depend on how styles change. In the 80's, we had square box cars. The 90's brought us more bubble-icious curves but also brought about lots of Torpedo-looking vehicles (Pontiac Transport -- oh, nevermind... they came out with that Aztek, too... yick, only if I won a contest...). I think we've got more oblong curves and angular points on cars now -- the G is not on that extreme end like the CTS's Tyrannosauraus front end (which I currently like). However, if we switch to square headlights again, change some normal features on the car, or use some other mechanism for tail lights, it can't help but look dated. That's not necessarily a bad thing -- even the "dated" looking 3000 GT still looks GOOD. :-)

jlkeeton - Acura RL = Acura Legend..they just dropped the legend name.
E.K - I have to agree with you about the legend. Its a very fine looking car...even today. I still have one in the family that looks like new inside and out. Alot of people still compliment my mom on the car. Its funny cuz some people who dont remember the legend ask my mom "Is that a new Acura model? It looks very nice and classy" =)
