i will believe that when i see it. 20 extra on the coupe? yeah i dont think so. I just cant see infiniti uping the power any more. Unless they decided to change the intake desighn then i could see were they are making the extra HP. I dont see infinit uping the compression ratio or changing the exhaust.

That would suck for us 2004 owners. I would believe a 20 hp increase in the sedan, but I dont know about the coupes.

to be honest these changes wont make the car any different ....the rims are fine , the interior is great, and engine is more than enough power, you will just have minor details changed which shouldnt bother your normal everyday driving, about the 20 hp i dont think that would happen either the car came out recently why put 20 more horsepower? it beats every car in its segment unless it is going after the m3? but it will take more than 20 hp to do that

 

Even if they do find a way to bump the hp up it will be something that would be easily accesable. ie if they change the intake manifold, they will start becoming available on ebay or something. Either way, I doubt they would bump it up that much. At leas, I hope not.

 

i heard the 20hp increase from an infiniti dealer late march, a couple days before i bought the car... he also mentioned about interior changes and headlight changes...
coincidence??? or reality!!!
i guess we'll have to wait and see......

Just a thought, maybe Motor Trend got this "rumor" from reading one of the G forums? It's altogether possible.

 

Yeah I can see them uping the hp on the G, 20 seems a bit high but you never know - I think it was a couple years ago that they uped the hp on the Corvette substantially (like 40 or so), and the price was virtually the same! Remember, this VQ is still in its infancy so refinement is always a possibility.

And for those of you that are complaining about resale value and blah blah blah, to Infiniti the marketing is always going to be more valuable - the G35 has only been out for 2 years!

I just look at this change as being a good chance to maybe get some better OEM mods to my '03 - WARRANTIED!

 

I hope they DO update to 300 HP on the coupe. Then we'll be able to buy those mods, and in another 12 months some MORE mods that will let us bump it up to 320.

Has there been any rumors of the 350Z getting extra power for 2005? It's hard to imagine Nissan increasing the G's HP to 300 without also pumping up the 350Z to at least that. I think they need to keep the Z at a higher HP rating than the G because it is their company sports car. So far we've heard plenty of rumors on the G getting extra power next year. How about the Z?
