Help identifying fast VW

I literally just raced a vw when i shouldnt have, but there was no way i was going to let him beat me so i decided to play. I look over and there are three guys in the right lane that merges into mine up ahead. I knew they were going to go. So we take off...That thing was fast, but I did beat it to the merge (about 50 mph). I was just wondering what kind of vw could go so fast. It looked like a golf or gti maybe?

also, i dont push my car to the limits that often, but when i do i want to know i am doing it as correctly as possible. I was on asphalt and when shifting hard into second i felt the tires break away a little, but no sqeal (im guessing because of the asphalt). Im sure this isnt great, but is it hurting my tranny by shifting so quick at 6500 rpms? I like to hear the tires sqeal a bit when shifting to 2nd, but this just felt like the slip light came on for half a second. I hope this isnt bad for the car.

take off the slip, you are loosing so much power with it on when you shift into second. I always like to hear a lil squeal when im switching into second, means im giving it just enough power, and when i get my 10's in the rear that will dissapear hopefully.

A chipped 1.8T alone will do about a 7 second 0-60. If in the right gear, and RPM that chipped turbo will flat out fly.

I know a guy running 24 lbs of boost on a TT set up for his GTi. Im not running him until my vortech gets installed, he is crazy fast. And the new R32s have AWD. I like them- smart, quick cars that I would never buy in a million years. I dont know how to distinguish the between the base model and the R32, just listen for the TT most of them around here have. Even stock puts out 240HP.

R32 has a stock dual exhaust. The GTI will smoke us if it has work done to it unfortunatly. I knwo cause I have a friend that has one and I dont race him anymore since he can smoke an evo with sork done to it. However he is on his second engine now so take that however you want. Now he has all forged internals and a fuel cell in the car so obviously yeah hes a bit faster lol. Back when he had I think just a boost controller, down pipe, chip, and maybe a few other little things I could beat him no prob but now that he has a new turbo its all over. Still wouldnt trade the G for one Ill tell you that much./
