OK here is the situation...
VDC off.. I had a passenger @ 185 lbs... also I didn't think that he was going to try to compete. (I'm not going to make excuses though) I take off normal abut I hear his tires squeal. I then punch it and am playing catch-up by about a foot. I eventually get ahead but by just a carlength @ 55 or 60 MPH as we both break it off (his was a manual, at least it sounded like one). He then pulls up beside me and says "that's tight" I say "that car will move". He says thanks and drives off. If you get challenged by an Altima SE, don't give them a head start, you'll have a tough time catching it.

Those cars are pretty quick especially if you give them a head start. =P. 240hp(people believe that it has the same as the maxima's 255 but nissan underrated it for the Maxima) and it can really move. Be careful out there and good kill. =)

My boy has an 04 Maxima but refuses to race me Its fast but it doesn't feel fast.....0 has no torque at all. But I must say that his car is the only car that I have no problem with not getting shotgun. I've sat in just about every sedan out there and almost nothing compares to the back seats in the Maxima with the mid compartment.

**maybe you got a bad launch....I beat a Altima couple months ago by a couple of car lengths.....don't know if it was an SE though. But I thought the only difference between an SE and a GLE was the trim and maybe a little suspension.

i think it has 265 hp and the altima has 250

I own a 2000 maxima, it has 222HP, and the 2k2-2k3 has 255HP and the 2004 has 260. The standard v4 2.5L altimas have 170HP and the 2.5SL has 175HP and the 3.5se altimas have 245HP

Must of been one of the 175's that I walked all over.

I'm not surprised that a 3.5 Altima stuck with you bro. They were tested back when the Sedan came out and did a 5.9 0-60.
As far as hp differences between the Sedan Coupe, Max, and Altima 3.5 -- in my opinion there's not much in it despite what the advertised hp is.

gsedanman is right there is some variation in hp hence dyno number a little lower for 2002-2003 Max and 2002-2004 Altima's over the G35 and 350Z. But they all still use the all powerful 3.5 engine except the Altima and Maxima dont have much decent mods out like the 305Z/G35/FX35 cause its the Max and Altima are fwd which made many owners really angry.

5.9 huh? I guess now I am more impressed with my G as I was able to pull slightly on him although unprepared... So much pairity in performance within the Nissan/ Infiniti lineup... Would have been nice if they had added a few more poneys to the Z and the G35

I heard 6.9 for the altima 3.5 litre.
The best i ever came across was 6.7 i think.

Oh and I meant the 2k2 and 2k3 maximas cause that's when the new style Altimas came out. They had 255hp in the 3.5's. I had a 2k1 maxima prior to my G and I thought I was all fast with my 222hp and FWD. Haha, if I only knew back then that I would have gotten a G35.
