HID auxilary lights
Since the day I picked up my G, I was dissapointed in the stock HID headlights, they just didn't light up the road like my HIDs in my old IS300. I knew I had to do something about it, and wanted to get HIDs for the stock fogs, but there doesn't seem to be a reliable Bi-HID kit out there that would work in our stock light assemblies. I really didn't want to butcher up the stock headlight housings to retrofit a projector setup. So after much searching I came up with a couple of options. PIAA makes a HID projector but costs $1400, JDM HID fog light kit is also around $1400, NFW I was gonna pay 14 bills for lights and then I finally came upon the Sylvania X1010 HID auxiliary light kit, at under $300 it was a steal. I really wanted round projectors but the cost was just too nuts. The Sylvanias are rectangular so not optimal as far as styling in my eye, but the price was just too good to pass up for real HIDs. I had them installed in the lower grill area. I was a little dissapointed in the light output, it's a little bit splotchy but boy does it help light up the foreground, now this is what lighting is all about. The color temp is D-HC or high color and at 5400K it's a bit bluer then the stock 4100K, it makes the stocks look like halogens in comparison, now I gotta go find me some 5400K for the headlights to match.

yeah, I did it my self took around 5 hours. about an hour or tow was just trying to figure out how to mount everything.
I used a hack saw blade to cut the grill, it cuts very easily. then took a Dremel to it with a sanding drum to smooth out the cuts.

Yeah, that was one of the first things I bought for the car a few days after I got it. I also installed them myselft and I am actually pretty happy with them. It looks better when you aim them a little bit more horizontal (but not in the incoming traffic...). By the way, what did you attach the frame the lamps to? i used the actual bumper of the car but they are sticking out somewhat (i also installed mine close to the center).
Interestingly, one of my ballasts burned out about a week alter. Sylvania people said it is extremely rare. they were very helpful and fedex'd me another ballast in 1 day for free. I've had the lights now for 2 months w/ no problems... They actually look very good with the LED's in the clear corners/parking lights. The 6000K Phillips are in the mail.

Hey man, can you show us a pic from far away? That looks like a pretty nice setup. Like you, I am very critical about lighting because I do a lot of night time driving, and I was pissed when I drove around in my G at night for the first time. I was real happy that the G came with Xenon headlights standard, but they are a huge disappointment and it's because of the unique styling of the headlamps (and the housing).
Did you ever consider the Hella Micro DE Xenon Driving Lights? They are round-shaped and are $700 from TireRack...that is the kit I am thinking of getting.

the Hella DE Xenon are more of a pencil type beam so not good for fogs or forgeground illumination, but yes I look at getting those too.

I mounted mine to the bumper mounting bolts on the frame. I used two steel 4" angles on each side, the kind used for bracing cabinets (got them at HomeDepot). Had to cut them and drill it out to fit. I tried using 2" x 1/8" thick aluminum flat bar stock bent into shape first, but it was not rigid enough and had too much flex in it. The steel braces are solid. I have mine so that the outside edge is flush with the grill and the inside edge is inside the grill surface.

Do u have any daytime and nighttime pics of the fogs from futher away?
I went with the philips 6000k d2r bulbs for my headlights and they turned out very nice for 280 a pair. The color is very nice and lit up the road better than the stock bulbs. I would not reccommend the 8000k bulbs. My friend went with those instead of the 6000k and they turned out to be too blue and dimmer than the stock bulbs..

if u wanna see better .. get some 6k D2S bulbs.. NOT D2R.. i know D2S are for projectors.. but it will get rid of ur cut off lines which will help u see better at night...
I know this because i just installed mine.. it requires a little modifications to the bulbs but i can see at least 2X better than my stock.. much further.
