car turns on and shuts off..help

hi everyone. my wife has an 04 G35 coupe. she drives alot of miles everyday for work and she is VERY late on an oil change..yesterday she went to the mall and it was no problem. when she went to leave the mall the car turned on and then turned off. after a couple times of doing this and pumping the gas it would stay on. then this morning she was on her way to her fathers house it was a bit worse. it would turn off when she would come to a complete stop.. last night i checked the oil and it was low so i went to the store and dropped in 2 quarts of oil and it turned on no problem and stayed on. her dad took her car today so she can drive without a problem but he told her that her check engine light came on today..i havent taken it to check what the code is but you guys have any suggestions in the meantime?

thanks

Define "very late"...

I bought a low mileage 10-yr old Prelude only to find out the previous owner didn't know you had to change oil... Before too long my copper crankshaft bearings were torn apart and ended up in my oil pan

Keep in mind that the G has a 5 quart capacity... if you were very low on oil, 2 quarts might not be enough, and might have been consumed already. If the car sounds and runs fine now, the service light might be a small leak somewhere... go get your car serviced now!

must have been a cheap suit.

change the oil ASAP using 5w-30 as recommended. Change it again in ~1000 miles to get the gunk out..

reset check engine liight

to be more specific the specs say 5 1/4 quarts of oil, lol.. so you would have to buy 6 quarts, juts to put that 1/4 in... anyway 5 quarts is good enough...

yes the air filter is the same thing as what i said "intake" filter. If I can remember your supposed to change the spark plugs every 50,000 miles?? hopefully someone can correct if im wrong. Your spark plugs might need to be replace, after their replaced im sure you'll feel a difference
