Love the forum - Need advise from skilled drivers

You guys are great. I have learned so much and haven't had to post anything at all. This though is more driving skill than anything. I believe I am a good driver and I'm told I am by others. Like all of you I take driving seriously and love it. There are some things I have yet to learn and it's more fun and showing off than anything. I have an 04 AT coupe and I want to really smoke my tires off the line . I want to know the best way to smoke em' from a stand still. Do I just apply the brake and rev it up and away I go or should I apply the parking break? I just don't know and I thought I would get the best guidance here.

Thanks guys,

Yeah, I have a 04 AT too and I tried everything to burnout. Unfortunatly, without a 6MT I don't think its possible.

Now if you wanna show off and look like a *** in the middle of traffic, do what I did and drift in the middle of a intersection in the rain.

1. turn off vdc
2. hold the brake with your left foot
3. rev to 4-5000 rpm with your right foot
4. let go of the brake

you wont necessarily burn out but you will at least chirp them. you can try pushing it higher for better results. this is what most 5at guys use for the drag strip. if you're looking to go fast then you dont want too much spinning. if you just want to have fun, use an empty lot when its wet. or just wait til your tires are near bald and let loose.

hahaha, 6MT is the answer!
just curious, for a 5AT, can't you just put it to N, then rev up and drop it to D ?

I get a little chirp and feel stupid and drive away as quickly as possible with my tail between my legs... LOL. If I didn't have a bum leg I would be driving a MT but since I can't I am stuck.

This is what I was thinking too

So it seems you are in line with my thinking also. I have new tires but I know when it's wet ( out of the car wash) they slip like mad.

I know that in the "old days" they use to put something on their tires that would make them smoke like crazy. Granted they could burn out easier too but... I just can't remember what they would use. I heard it from my dads friend as a "way back when" story.
