Z-Tube...upper intake piece that connects the plenum to the MAF, on the Z it has no resonator and is .5 inch bigger in diameter allowing more air flow...
Pop-Charger...replaces the stock airbox with an open element filter that allows it to draw air from the sides and top, less restrictive which makes more hp, filter is reusable since all you have to do is clean it and re-oil it...

I threw this together to illustrate the difference, it's not to scale or 100% accurate, but it gives you an idea.

The grey "box" near the top of the tube is what is replaced by the Z-tube (black), and the blue part is the Pop charger.

Its an alternative to the CAI...this has no problems with hydrolock, sucking water into the engine...

Re: Please explain the Z tube/Pop charger?

northface,

The Z-Tube and stock tube are, in fact, the same diameter. They are both 3" in diameter. I have previously read (and posted) that same info, but after installing my intake I realized that the stock tube simply has a big resonator on it. Think about it... they both hook up to the throttle body, therefore they MUST have the same diameter.

The best description is that it is the cheapest mod and greatest gain per dollar available for the G35 to date.

Well, just because the z tube plugs up to the throttle body the same, doesn't mean that the piping is the same size all throughout. It could very well be bigger in the middle, seems that way.

"seems that way"??? Have you ever done the install yourself? I have the spare tube in hand and I don't think the diameters are any different...

The stock tube just has baffles that restrict flow, that's all.

They are both 3" in diameter. Best benefit is the sound.

Re: Please explain the Z tube/Pop charger?

Calm down man, and for your information I've done all my own installs, oil change, etc. Without the resonators, the tube looks bigger, I guess its not, sorry I didn't use something to measure it.

phew.

Re: Please explain the Z tube/Pop charger?

this may be a dumb question but why when we install the z tube do we get the annoying whistling sound but the stock z's don't?

Re: Please explain the Z tube/Pop charger?

The whistling sound has NOTHING to do with the Z-tube. It is from the Pop-Charger.
