Newbie to 05,G35 6sp Manual

Guys, I bought a 05 G35 6 Sp manual yest.

I have a question, there is a red light next to the tachometer console which says "REV" and its keeps blinking red and sometimes it shows yellow.

I dint understand what that means, tried googling it but could not find a good answer.

Any explanations????

It's a programmable light you can set to visually remind you when to shift. It'll start blinking about 500 rpms before what you set it to then it should be solid after you go over. To set it push the trip odometer until you get to RPMs and then hold to set.

Thanks for your reply!

One more question, what is the ideal RPM to set it to? I wanna have fun in the car , but dont want to push it too much with the current gas prices

to be honest that rev-light should not determine when u shift or not. U know where the rev limiter is and u should shift as close to the rev limiter as u can without touching it, assuming u are racing. Rev light should be in handy when u have automatic car. Even then every gear it takes different amount of time for the paddles to respond to the movements. So either way rev light is pointless.

Hope it helps.

I set mine to 6500... starts blinking slow to let me know red is approaching, then at 6800 it's like "shift dumbass." Works out quiet nicely imo. It did annoy the hell out of me when I first got it as it was set to 4k and I had no idea what the point of it was though. That being said I've taken it to about 7250 :P

not really being sarcastic... setting the light at 3000 rpm would remind you to shift early, for maximum fuel savings, if that's a concern

Meh don't understand the concept of buying a sports car to shift at 3 or 4 k all the time to save on fuel... If you wanted that why not get a civic.

I set mine to 6500 RPM, and is working for me. Been jst 5 days since I bought it and loving every bit of it.

The best part is the roar it has while accelerating.....

Thx for all ur replies.
