We were rolling on Hwy 101 in Moutain View. From about 65 to 135 I was with him the whole way. I could not believe it and I thought something must be wrong with his car. Then I see through the dark tint that he has 5 people in his car. Well that must of been the reason because he could not pull on me at all. Everywhere he went I was right on his ***. I wonder how bad I would gotten smoked if it was just him in the car.

 

i have also raced a m5 on the roll, around 25-30 mph. we were dead even when we got on it he had 1 passenger and i was alone and we were dead even to around 80 and had to shut it down...CARS ARE ONLY AS FAST AS THEIR DRIVERS! he was shifting like a granny

u kno how some of yall post y the stype would rev to g35's and other "inferior" cars...... same goes with this post. M5 will MURDER a G35. even if he cant drive. M5 granny shifted will smoke your car....im sorry u sure it wasnt a 540i sport package? those come with m5 bumpers~

the m5 and 540w/sport package dont look similar at all....if you are a car enthusiast. and for those who have responded with doubt how many have you driven or owned a m5 out of curiousity? because my good friend owned a e39 m5 with supersprint exhaust and gruppe-m intake, dont get me wrong the car was fast, beating most carrera's and keeping up with Z06's and what not, but you are portraying them as they are the quickest production car built. and yes the numbers are a clear indication of how powerful it is compared to our little V6, but you must keep in mind that our cars are lighter and the m5 only has 114 more hp but also weighs 522 pounds more and most importantly it was on a ROLL not a dead stop. im sure you have all raced from a roll and when you are traveling at a pretty high speed its difficult to pull on someone unless you are sitting in a T88'd toyota supra and you are on the freeway!!!!!! lol

hold on lemme get this straight? so ure saying that a g35 could keep up with a m5 because its 522 pounds lighter but only 114 hps less? And that on a roll it would be even closer? i dunno what ure reading or what not but tahts totally off.
i have a friend with a 2001 540i. fast car. kwakman 6spd g35c. kwakman beats him but not by much. maybe 1/2-1 lenght at about 90ish. And 2003 540i sport packages have the M5 front lip so its hard to tell esp. on fwy.
I also have a friend with a 2003 E55. its faster than the E39 m5 but same class. performance is comparable. That thing is a freakin rocket. burns rubber goin 40mph. NO WAY a G35 even comes close to it.
Back to the hp/lbs debate. Then riddle me this...how is it that my car 2000 2.7t 6spd that wieghs 38XXlbs with 30 less hps and 22less torque can beat the G35c? perhaps im overboosting but still.
anyways thats just my .02. perhaps you DID take the M5, but if u did then that guy wasnt trying....even with 5 people.~
as for me i'll bet on a 5 personed M5/E55/RS6 over a g35c anyday~

 

Audi_27t, M5 weigh around 4000lbs and G35C at 3420lbs. Let's say the 5 person each weigh 150lbs, that will make it 4750lbs, and the G35C with 3570lbs (including driver). M5 has 394hp and 368 torque. The weigh/hp ratio then will be M5 12.056, the G35 will be 12.75, weigh/torque ratio M5 12.90, the G35C 13.2, which is really close. This guy is sharing his experiences here (maybe each of the guy in the M5 weigh 200lbs?) and yes we know how fast M5 is and it has nearly 400hp, no need to tell us how fast a E55 AMG or M5 is, we know. (My manager has one) So if the M5 with 5 guys on it and the driver can't shift right, the G35C has a chance to win, just like if our G35C has 5 150+lbs ppl in it your audi will have a chance to beat the G35C.

 

He was on the fifth or sixth gear while going at freeway speed (70-80) mph. So there is no need to argue about G keeping up with M5. He probably didnt bother to downshift, and if he downshifted to 3rd @ about 5000 Rpm there was NOOOO wayy you could see his back licence plate.

Audi_2_7t - Read his intial post. He said that the he had 5 people in the car. That is roughly, at least, 550+ pounds added to the cars weight. That is a signigicant increase in weight. Thats the reason the G35c could keep up with the M5. It isn't that far fetched at all.

Oh, Btw, I have beaten an Audi 2.7t before. Nothing too hard. Maybe im "overboosting"?

yea i agree with that weight thing...i just saw a march motor trend and they tested another 350z against a s2000 and rx8....anyways that 350z recorded a 0-60 in 5.3 sec and 1/4 mi in 13.77 sec....its in march issue read if you dont believe....well a 350z has 7 more hp than a g35....and only other thing different is that it weighs 215 lbs less than the g35....if 215 lbs make that much of a diffence (almost a full second faster 0-60 and almost 3/4 sec faster in 1/4mi)....4 more adults or 600-800 lbs will make the m5 like a suv....

 

You sure that wasn't the Nismo 350Z? I was glancing that in the grocery store and I thought it was comparing the Nismo Z to the others. Headers, cam, etc.
