$2? Which place is this? Every placed I called charged $30-40 to cut the keys.

I purchased this flip key 'cover' but sold it because of the Nissan logo.

This is the same one I bought - the nissan logo doesn't really bother me.

I just took it to the local Canadian Tire here in Ottawa. They don't do anything special, they are just a hardware store and have a key cutting kiosk. No special skills or tools required.

I have the same 4 button Nissan flip key as jibberjabbers^^^^

I have my blade on my flip key cut and the fob remote chip is installed and working perfectly. But I my question is; I have taken out the transponder chip out of my OEM key to put in my flip key but does the chip have to touch any kind of metal or ground for it to work?

No absolutely not. This is a common misconception. The transponder just has to be about an inch or so from the reciever in the ignition column. When you put it in the fliip key, there is just a slot for it in the front. Actually auto starters with an override for immobilizers work on the same principle. They have a small wire which wraps around the ignition column to trick the vehicle into thinking the autostarter is actually an OEM key.

Just got my four button Nissan one in the mail today.. Took me forever to get the spring just right in it. Took it to Tom Thumb grocery store and they cut it for free for me since I brought my own key in.. Works like a charm and I love it!
