G35 At Vs Rx8 Manual
Re: G35 At Vs Rx8 Manual
Rx8 has higher kick at higher RPM which would allow it to gain after a bad start...but I don't know if it would be enough to pull off a win to 1/4 or 100. I've heard many Rx-8 owners complain about the kick in the butt they get at high RPMs and then the dissapointment when the needle drops back down at the change of the gears.

Re: G35 At Vs Rx8 Manual
I have $20 riding on the G35. The RX8 is slower, but it might be lighter than the G and gain a little in that department, overall G should take it!

Re: G35 At Vs Rx8 Manual
Dude, do a search on the web for 1/4 mile times and 0-60 times for the coupe. I would say after reviewing most of the pages, the g35 coupe 6mt runs 0-60 in 5.5 and 14.2 in the 1/4 although I've seen 1/4 mile times on the 6mt as low as 13.9 at Norwalk Race Track. The 5at is around 5.7 between 14.3's and 14.4's. Once again, it all depends on who is driving the car.
Re: G35 At Vs Rx8 Manual
thanks for clearing that up...so i was right...g35 has advantage 0-60 ...and rx8 will eventually catch up...(from motor trend, auto week, and road and track) they all got 14.5 or better...so ya...i think its gonna be close...
Re: G35 At Vs Rx8 Manual
The key work is powerband. The RX8 needs to be driven like you stole it in order to obtain the magazine numbers. Prolly took a few tries to get the best times to post. The G can attain to it's potential more consistently than the RX8, thus I'd give the advantage to the G unless the RX8 driverr can pull off one of it's perfect runs.

Re: G35 At Vs Rx8 Manual
i agree...g35 has a lot more room to make error since the payoff is not as great...then again..we r talking about g35 auto..so...its not that easy to make an error =)
Re: G35 At Vs Rx8 Manual
The G35 will smoke the RX-8. Has anyone seen the best motoring video with the RX-8? They had the S2000, G35, RX-8, WRX, RSX, and Miata (thats all the cars I believe). The S2000 came first, G35 second, and I think the RX-8 came 4th. Also, 0-60, you can see in all the car magazines, the G35 is faster.
Re: G35 At Vs Rx8 Manual
Yeah kinda hard to make an error in the auto. But not impossible if you are using certain techniques to try to max out it's potential. In MM mode you can blow a shift and off the line you can bog the engine down if you try to launch via brake torque from beyond the stall zone of the tc. If you don't break the tires lose the engine wil bog down. If you do... well now you're having some fun as long as the wheel spin in not excessive. More often than not however you can acheive satisfactory results by just flooring it.

Re: G35 At Vs Rx8 Manual
well..i drove a MM on g35 b4...and i have a type-s...its really really hard to NOT shift at the right time..since all u have to do is look at the needles.....whoever doesn't let go and shift the gear is...not very smart?
Re: G35 At Vs Rx8 Manual
The concept is easy but these cars rev up so quickly thus if you don't pay attention, for example if you are trying to keep aware of the position of your opponent, and watching the road, and if you don't keep the timing in your head in synch with the car you will be bouncing all over the rev limiter (same goes for an MT). No it's not that difficult but it is not impossible to blow a good run.
