on top of it...there's no advantage in MM mode from a race 0mph on...the only advantage u have in MM mode is when u need to downshift..like..u wanna speed up all a sudden during crusing on the freeway

Actually Takuyaah, MM shifts are more direct although a bit more harsh. In first gear D mode will often shift too early. In MM mode you can control the shifts. Thus in the G there is an advantage to using MM mode from a start from 0.

i totally agree with you man...i am probably wanted to say ..any "significant" advantage from 0 on...cuz...from what i read on this forum..the "shift too early" thing only happen in the first gear...and its at 6K rpm..so..its not all that bad..but ya...u gotta punch the gas to make sure that it knows that u want it to go...so it won't shift too early..

 

I agree that the difference may be marginal. My "butt" dyno feels it more in MM mode mainly in 2nd gear as the car really benefits from the extra few RPM's into its peak power range that results from shifting near redline, which most agree is the optimum shift point for the G, as opposed to 6100 (sometimes right at 6150) RPM. Peak hp is at 6200.

RX-8's autos are really slow

15.49 @ 91mph was what my friend has, which is really fast because I've seen some at 16's.

I think they got 16's because drivers don't want to damage their transmission. The only way to get the 0-60 in 5.9 seconds is by doing that. Their torque on the dyno charts are so low, it's no comparision who would win.

robertc81, in that video RX8 ends up 5th, RSX-S 4th... if it wasn't RX8 blocking the G356MT at beginning, it should be a close race between the G and S2K. Anyhow, that is just one race, doesn't necessary means that RSX-S is faster than RX8.

G35CAT should beat RX-8 in both 0-60 and 1/4 miles. Plus, the G35CAT will pull out more consistant number than RX8 MT (and you have to drive it like you stole it). Btw, some magazine record a 0-60 time of 5.6 sec on 6mt and some record 6.0 sec, i think this is due to difference in track condition, weather, wind....etc.

 

it was actually a integra type-R. not RSX(integra)type-S. Type-R is renowned in japan as the premier FF and is in a different class than the type-s.

 

Gents, let us not forget the RX-8 would blow us away in a slalom course. I still love my G, regardless.

As Jay Leno said of the RX-8 on MotorWeek (I think) "These Klingon seats have to go."
