Different tone?

I wonder if this is normal, can you guys confirm if you can hear a different tone on the engine when pressing the clutch all the way down and clutch all the way up? seems like there's a distinctive tone between the two..to do this you have to open the door and listen to it and compare....

Re: Different tone?

This because with the clutch engaged (down) you are disengaging the engine from the shaft going into the transmission. While with the clutch up all the shafts from engine to tranny is engaged, more things to turn even though you are in neutral. Putting it in gear engages other gears that connect you with the drive shaft and thus the wheels.
Short and sweet, hope it makes sense. Just too much to go into to describe the functionality of a manual transmission.
