Sun Shield

Hello all, I recently got my G35 and am new to the boards
I was curious if anyone uses a sun shield inside their G. I have one from my old truck, but its too damn big and doesn't fit. Any suggestions/comments appreciated

Re: Sun Shield

I purchased the Heat Shield sun shade for $25 from my dealer. It’s cut to fit the windshield and not only blocks sunlight, but heat as well, especially if you have window tint. I would definitely recommend purchasing one.

Re: Sun Shield

I decided on this:
http://www.covercraft.com/windshield_heat_shield.htm
Seems to be the best and its custom fit.
Didn't opt for the bag since its sunny 360/365 here in San Diego

Re: Sun Shield

I like the HeatShield, too. Dealerships usually carry them. www.canvasworks.com for info or to order direct. They're custom made to a particular model. They work great -- up to a 40 degree F cooler interior.

Re: Sun Shield

you should do a 55% tint on your windshield. Here in Hawaii were the sun is killer I don't even need to use a sunshield anymore. it blocks out so much of the heat and cuts down on glare as a bonus.

Re: Sun Shield

Yep, we've been doing a lot of windshield tints lately........perhaps, it's the heat.

Re: Sun Shield

What state are you in? Was wondering what you do with the inspection sticker if it needs to be on the tinted windshield?

Re: Sun Shield

I would imagine that it would be safer in an accident since it would help to hold the glass pieces together. Yeah, it's illegal here but lots of cars have them. If you go with the lightest tint possible it's not too bad, but in certain lighting conditions it's really noticeable when the light reflects off the tint. As far as inspection sticker I'll have to figure out how to deal with that in 2 years. We're lucky inspection just got extended to 2 years insead of 1.

Re: Sun Shield

As a matter of fact, it's safer in an accident because tint will prevent the shattered glass from flying into your face. We do quite a lot of windshields when the heat waves swing by, but it is not legal............most go w/ 55%, which is fairly light and only noticeable on cloudy days.

I prefer having the windshield of my cars tinted to block off 99% of UV rays from destroying my leather and plastics of the car.....not to mention my skin on long drives along the Cali coastline.
