Tranny & Rear Differential Fluids

i have an '05 g35 6mt w/ 27,500 miles and have been experiencing notchy shifting (no grinding) esp 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd. i know this topic has been touched on many times but i guess i'm just looking for a clear-cut answer. i've driven my buddy's stock '04 6mt w/ about 55k miles and noticed his shifting is freaken smooth like butter. about the fluids, i was looking at flushing out my tranny & diff. fluids with Amsoil MTG 75W-90 API GL-4 for the transmission and Sever Gear 75W-90 API GL-5 for the rear differential. is this recommended and will this make a big difference in terms of smoother shifting? any info will help. thanks

I've been running Amsoil lubes since after transmission and differential break-in (about 3k miles). Couldn't tell you if it made any difference but at least I know i have the best stuff in there

+1.

During the flush, you may also want to buy a bottle of el-cheapo differential fluid and flush out the differential with that before putting the Amsoil in there.

If you really want to go the route of getting all the old stuff out, pull off the differential cover and clean off all the crap

and your 15 minute job just turned into an all day event...especially if you have rear active steer.

I wouldn't always agree. I was talking to the dealer. They don't even use the Nissan fluid. He said they just use the stuff in the BIG DRUM and he didn't know if it was gl-4 or not.

Eric (Klumzyee) changes his tranny fluid very very often (every other oil change).... says it keeps the tranny shifting smooth.

And, if they don't use the right fluid, well.... they're gonna pay for it.

Use Amsoil here too. Changed mine out with only 15K when new.
I did notice a difference in my 6mt with smoother shifts, especially in 1st/2nd gears. That's why I switched.

I'm about to change out the tranny and rear diff fluids in my car.

These are the products to use?

Yes!!! I haven't changed my tranny fluid yet but I changed my rear diff. There is a DIY here and I uploaded some of my pics there.
