Selling my G, Question about price

Hey everyone, I have a 04 DG coupe 6MT with 26k miles. I put it on craigslist with a price of 22,999. When I was comparing it to the other models I think its a pretty fair price although I expect to drop it slightly if someone is a seirous buying. So far everyone thats responded to my ad said "well the blue book is 18, so ill give you 17,500".

Am I asking too much? Has anyone here bought or sold a G recently. I know my car is worth more than 18k. I can't even really find a G on autotrader with less than 30k for under 23 grand.

Well you should ATLEAST be able to sell it for a thousand more than the trade in a local dealer would give you, private parties transation prices should be somewhere between dealer prices and trade in value. I have found this general rule of thumb to work quite well.

you also have to understand that right now, it is a buyer's market.

buyers market

Im looking to buy an 04 or 05 right now, and here in LA, there's a ton of em for sale. Mostly '04s with 50-60k miles. Makes me think an extended warranty might be a good idea. The one i got on my subaru svx paid for itself when the transmision took a dump.

Or maybe in this craptastic economy, a bunch of people got in over their heads and are looking to trade in for a more economical option. The gas prices arent helping either...

Either way everyone's asking WAY above blue book and acts shocked when i tell them what the blue book is. Might explain why a lot of these gorgeous cars have been sitting on autotrader for months.

Feels like a buyer's market to me.

Hey what do you guys go by, the Kelly BLue Book or the Edmund's TMV True Market Value (which always seems considerably lower)?

KBB and NADA is what's used in dealers and auctions.

It's definitely a buyers market right now.

There's no way the KBB value of your car in "good" private party condition is $18K. I have an '04 with 47k miles, and I think my KBB "good" private party is just under $19K. I think in Cali the value is about $1,000 higher than it is here in the N'East.

You should probably expect to get $20K for it.

didn't want to make a new thread but I'm going to test drive this today. What do you guys think I could actually get it for? (it seems cheap for a list, right?)

Seems like a fair price to me. Most low mileage 05's seem like theyre asking 25g at least.

You can definitely lower the price on that 05'. You can get a loaded 06 for around $25k.

I think its a good price... I bought my 04 6MT w/21k miles for $21,500 (he was asking $22,500) this past May and that was after looking for 2 months for a 6MT G. There are a ton of autos around so they were a few thousand less...
