g35 vs. 350z

I'm going to say sorry in advanced for all the serious forum guys but this one's a little different. I did use search and found out some good info but I need a little more.

I have had my heart set out on the 350Z until I went to check one out at the dealership tonight and also got to experience the G35. The interior is crap on the 350Z and there is no back seat and the 2 cars are pretty much the same price!

Ok so, I will likely be buying an 05-06 MT. From what I've read it seems there are some small but noticeable changes and mechanical problems. Is there anything I should be looking for/ aware of in these years? I've been told the market for 350Z's is crap and that you can lowball hardcore, is this the same for G35's? Finally, it seems the performance of both cars are about equal but what would you do with 1 grand to make your G35 faster?

Thanks for the help and hope its a little different from the norm.

If you like this car for the looks then your ok, but if you want to be fast, then maybe not. I mean dont get me wrong, these cars are quick, but to make them FAST you have to go FI and that means $$$$$. To your other question you can do a few things with a grand like intake, plenum spacer, high flow cats/test pipes or you can get an exhaust which will take up most of, ALL of or more than that grand(Another downside is EXPENSIVE mods). In 05 they began putting Rev-up motors in the manual G's and sometimes they develop an oil consumption problem but thats really not a bad thing because you could get a new motor out of it

If you're serious about performance, pick the 350z. Lighter, shorter wheelbase=better performer overall. Sure, you can correct that via the aftermarket, but stock for stock, the 350z is a more serious sports car.

Or you can do the same mods that trey hutcheson did, lol. 13.2 is pretty impressive, bro.

I won't have enough cash for a G37 but that'd be nice. Thanks for all the responses guys. Don't know if you guys spend anytime at the 350Z forum but those guys are total jerks, which is another reason to buy a G35.

G35 is a little slower, I think like by .15 in the 1/4 mile, but it is a more practical car. It actually has a trunk, backseats, leather, nav if you get it, and IMO is much better looking.

It's a much more classier look than the Z, whenever I see those, they scream look at me! look at me!, but a G is just undescribable when I see one.

G/L with the decision bro, let us know what happens

Really not a whole lot worth giving up the G for a z and there is less than 200LBS difference in weight; my 04 is only 116Lbs heavier than an 04 Z.
Also, no sunroof; WTF is a sports car with no sunroof?

Thanks Darkstar, I agree with you 100%. Right now, if someone gave me the keys to a 350Z and a G35 i'd Take the G35, no doubt.

Me getting this car is dependent on 1 of 3 deals I have going on so we'll see but I'll let you know and thanks for the advice.

1 - Lighter.
2 - More rigid.

Both properties of sports cars.
