I have blizzak lm25 snow tires,I think they are good.they help me get through the winter in colorado.I still have them so I'll be using them again this winter.just drive with the condition of the road and you'll be fine,if it's got snow 3-5in drive slow as far as ice you will just skid but like alot of cars on ice they will skid all over the road also.before I had a 2006 4runner 4wd snow tires and I still don't have traction on the road.just drive slower and you will be fine with some snow tires..

The G35 Coupe is the type of car that you want to drive whenever you can.... but it's just not adequate as a reliable means of transportation when it's snowing out.

I'd say bite the bullet in this case, and just deal with driving another 4x4 truck or SUV in the winter as you have been doing..... or if fuel economy is a big concern, get a smaller FWD vehicle or even a Subaru of some sort(all Suby's are AWD).

Even though it doesn't necessarily mean that the car is intended to be 100% solely a Summer or warm-weather type vehicle.... consider the fact that both the Michilin PilotSport or Bridgestone Potenza tires that were the only tires put on the '03 to '05 Coupes from the factory are both exclusively performance summer tires...not all season tires.
Yeah its become somewhat apparent that the g will most likely not be next purchase as like you said, I experience winter, and i mean real winter with tons of snow for more than half the yr here, and combining that with needing to haul my gear with me, g really isn't fitting my profile it looks like, and the sig. other is agreeing.

So it looks like I'm looking at 1 fwd car, 2 suv's ( the FX series since im quite loyal infiniti owner) and 1 truck, being the tacoma funny enough as it's decent on gas i hear, defn. has space i need and I can make changes to it to make it my taste, cept. for fact im use to luxury vehicles so tacoma might not work for me

I would look at an Audi as a viable alternative if you want a car. A4. Or buy a 2008 G35X, those look great with 4 doors.

What's your summer car that you already have?

Get yourself an X if you are really concerned about the bad weather.
It rocks.
I am on my 2nd X and absolutely love it.
I have always had a 4x4 truck along with my cars and the X is my choice in bad winter weather now.
PM me if you have any questions about the performance of the X. I would be glad to give you a demo if you live near me.

As far as Tacomas are concerned..... I absolutely adore my 2001 Tacoma and can't emphasize how much I personally vouch for the Pre-2005 Tacomas being fantastic vehicles. I might even go as far as to say that I like my Taco overall better than my G35 due to the combined facts that the quality of the vehicle is far far ahead of the G35, it can drive over anything that you can throw at it with ease in stock form, it gets the same or better fuel economy as my G35, It's more functional as far as carrying cargo and moving stuff in general, it has a much much better turning radius than the G35, it's a lot easier and cheaper to maintain and literally nothing on it ever breaks, you can see over snow banks and other cars at intersections, and in general, I don't worry about parking it at Wal-Mart or any other Demoltion-Derby type parking lot..... and I just feel that it's such a well designed vehicle from top to bottom. The thing is the closest thing to an invinceable vehicle that I have ever owned in my 15 years of driving experience. Doing any maintenance on it is a breeze, with everything being simple to get at, and without any serious obstructions preventing or complicating view or access to things(such as our crappy G35 Under-Engine Cover which is held on by 20 screws). I really like the feel of the manual transmission on it too.

I was at a huge party 2 winters ago, and about 25-30 of us stayed overnight on an evening in which temperatures dropped to several degrees below 0 degrees F. overnight and there was a good amount of snow on the ground from a previous storm, and harsh winds were gusting all evening. Of the 12-15 non-garaged cars that tried to start up early the next morning, my Tacoma was only one of 2 vehicles that would actually start in the morning the next day(the other was an old Volvo 240)... and I even had it parked out in the snow rather than on the driveway due to us running out of driveway space the night before. There were 4 or 5 other 4x4 trucks there also parked in the snow, and not one of them would start early on in the morning when it was still bitter cold out, until it started to warm up later on.... and this was on the original 6+ year-old battery(I still have it in there now too).

My one and only complaint about my Tacoma is the parking brake design... other than that, it's been perfect and I haven't had to fix a single thing on it the entire 4 years that I've owned it aside from keeping up with routine maintenance and putting some new tires on it.

I'm not too hot on the newest generation Tacomas though in comparison to the pre-2005 ones(based purely on what I hear from other people who own them). Supposedly the quality of those new ones is not quite as good as the previous generations, and they also got bigger and heavier.

This is not meant to be a comparison of a G35 Coupe vs a Toyota Tacoma.... I am basically just stating some of the positives of the truck in comparison to my car... especially if I had to only choose one of them to own as my only all-year vehicle(It would have to be the Tacoma... hands down/no questions asked, just due to practicality).

Current summer ride is new body Mustang with a massive overall, pumping out some good hp #'s
I will not buy an A4 as those are riddled with liability issues, and sure you can find one that won't cause you any headaches but im not going to chance it

I've looked at the g35x but i just cant seem to make myself like the sedan version over the 2dr version. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, don't get me wrong, just to me it seems I would better suite the 4dr down the road when im older, as well the trunk space does not seem to be any better in the 4dr than the coupe, im thinking thats the correct assumption??

The Tacoma has been sitting strong on the bottom of my list as it really doesn't fit at all with rest of my choices, but for reasons you mentioned is why its still on my mind.

I cannot tell you enough how much toyota quality has dropped. I have an 08 Corolla (Not the Brand new one, the 2003-2008 one) and everything on the inside falls apart, and then engine has started making a big diesel sound, and the tires recived a 0.9 rating out of 5 stars. I know they used to be great, my friend has a 1997 and it runs fantastic and the steering is much smoother.

G35 isn't really a practical car as far as trunk space/ transporting people/ good winter car, but is good in other ways.

The 2007 G35x looks great, I feel ya on the 2003-2006 sedan, it looks so bland and the coupe looks sharp and edgy IMO.

my G + oem tires + 35% thread left + 10 degree incline over 500ft + 2-3 inches of snow = me pushing up the G 495 ft = FAIL. basically... but then again... my G + goodyear eagle f1 a/s + 2-3 inches of snow = FUN.

ehh i think you should take a look at the coupe's trunk... or what ever that small area is called haha... my opinion just get the coupe if you really want it dont worry about having to drive in the snow... we have snow tires for that 1

I drive my car all winter long. No big deal at all. Does it matter that I live in Hawaii and we don't get snow?

Trunk space in the sedan is about twice as large. For 2005 at least, coupe is listed a 7.8 Cubic feet and the Sedan 14.8 Cubic feet

Im actually starting to look at the X now as a alternative, even though i would still rather have the couple the awd is something i would really love to have.
Just have to drive a couple now, see how i like it over the coupe and convince the girl that a suv is not needed, which will be quite the task in itself
