Close to picking up an 04, Any Advice?
So I have been considering picking up a G35 coupe for about 2 years now. I have read a wealth of info on this site and since im so close to buying one I figured I would ask some quick questions. Thanks in advance for any info.
Im not new to cars/forums as i already own a 2003 Roush mustang (yes I know it's a ford)
I have put a ton of money into my Roush and am pushing 450 HP and 450 TQ. with a kenne bell twin screw supercharger.
Im just stating all this because I already have a "mod" car.
I just simply love the style of the G35 coupe and plan on making it my new daily driver.
I found an 04 coupe with 32,000 miles for $24,900 out the door. It is super clean and has every option I wanted except for the brembos.
I understand that the 05+ G35 coupes have some better qualities but they are just out of my range. I am going to be taking out a 4 year loan on the car and want it to last. Is there anything in particular i should be looking out for while inspecting it? The car is located 2 hours from me so i will be heading out tomm to go see her.
It is an automatic which was part of the deal with my wife. She cant drive stick and needs to be able to drive this car.
With the factory warranty only being 4 years Im assuming this one is close to being out of it. I would like to buy an extended warranty on it and was curious if you could buy the factory Infiniti extended warranty on a pre-owned car? It is a certified car.
Also, how is the navigation? We have navigation in our 04 grand cherokee and it is essentially worthless. Are these actually useable?
Any input or suggestions you may have for me before I make the sale would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

That price sounds too high... even for out the door. Your warranty is up on that car except for the powertrain warranty which is 6 years or 70K miles.
Does it have the performance tire and wheel package?(18" rims)

Price sounds a little high...are there others around to compare the price to?
the Brembo's are standard on the 6mt's, not even sure it's an option for the auto's
I had to drive about 2 hours to get mine also...

Also the website says I need premium fuel, is this correct?
Also the ad says "Integrated Phone"
I didnt think they offered bluetooth in 04 so Im curious as to what exactly they mean by this?

Well I have also researched this, and found that, although its best to, its not required for cars with todays technology. However, you WILL notice slight performance differences with regular fuel. If that is what you chose, you can try throwing in some Octane booster with the REGULAR fuel to try to gain some performance back.
This is straight from the owners manual
"Fuel 20 gal 16-5/8 gal 76 Unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 91 AKI (RON 96)*1"
and it is listed as a RECOMMENDATION, not Required.
but try to keep a higher octane rating, with a booster if needed, to keep better performance.
also if you experience any engine knocks or noises. go back to premium, or maybe try a fuel filter change.
hope this helps and good luck

Just use premium. Its only a couple hundred more a year and you can't hurt your engine with it like regular can.
That price is wayyy to high, I can get you an 06 for 23,500, seriously search some more.

Thanks for the info folks. I have no problem using premium, I was justs imply asking if that was indeed what they required.
I am trading in a vehicle that I have about $2000 in negative equity in. So in reality Im getting the car for $23,000 plus the $2000 in negative equity transfering over.
I would love to get one cheaper but unfortunately I dont have a check to pay for this, it has to be financed and my trade has to be taken...

You should be able to find one cheaper. If you're going to pay that much for one get an 05+. There's no reason not to because you're looking at an auto its still a non revup so you shouldn't have problems there with an 05+. Plus since it doesn't have brembos you arent losing them for going with a newer one either. IMO get an 05+, I have an 03 and the interior and a few other things are nicer on the 05+. The amount of money you're looking to spend should be in your range to find one and chances are you'll end up with a longer warranty.
Do not pay that much for that car.
I got my '04 from a used car dealership with ~37K miles on it OTD for less than that in July 2007. And mine is a 6MT which has a slightly higher value than the 5AT.
And FYI since my purchase the KBB private party "good" value of my car has dropped about $6,500 after only 10k miles on the odometer. If you paid this price you'd be overpaying by several thousand dollars.

Do not pay that much for that car. I just (4 months ago) bought a 2004 5AT G coupe out the door for 20857. It had 36000 on the clock. I have loved this car so far and use this site once you find a good buy. These guys on here have been a lifesaver on knowing general questions you have. Just be sure to search first haha or you get flamed.
The rims in the pics are the 18".
Extended warranties are available but typically, you need to buy the extended warranty before the bumper-to-bumper warranty expires.
Yes, premium fuel only.
As far as things to look at before buying, here's things that I had to do on my 04:
1) Driver's seat side bolster (door side) splits in the leather under the plastic fascia. (Check foam bolster to make sure it's not falling apart either)
2) Gas gauge doesn't read correctly....needs new sender unit.
3) Sunroof pops when opening....needs lubrication.
