What makes it a .5?

Im pretty sure he knew that. What he is asking is there any difference between an '04 and an '04.5 other than someone bought it later.

I understand its mid year. Does it say anything on the window sticker? Any differences in the car? Who says what is a .5?

If I remember a previous thread correctly, there is a range of VIN numbers that tell the difference between a 2004 and a 2004.5. I also think there are only a couple of slight differences in the car itself. The most notable is the shifter on the automatic model.

There have been threads on the board about this in the past, that is if you can search for them and find anything.

After 8000xxx serial numbers produced after October, 2003 they meet the "level 2 clean air" emissions thing. I forget what it's called exactly.

NO, infact the 2004 models began getting better times in the 0-60 category and the 1/4 mile category according to most magazine publications.

Plus I hear if you have a LR coupe you gain a couple of tenths in the quarter, just because it's red [img]/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/img]

I see what you're saying but too broad of a generalization. Look at the emissions vs performance on today's cars relative to those 30 years ago. Necessity breeds invention. Some emissions improvements will actually net better performance. For instance improving the combustion efficiency will improve performance as well as emissions. However, bolting on a giant cat will do the opposite. I'm not sure what the actual "improvement" was on the 04.5 but I'm doing my best to systematically remove those that harm my performance .
