6MT Owners, What gear do you use least??

Re: 6MT Owners, What gear do you use least??
5th used least
Daily commute is back roads, seldom get above 4. (Probably could. Last car was an MR2, and I had to keep the engine rev's pretty high to get any acceleration. I know I don't have to do that - as much - in the G. But, force of habit. Downside is 16 mpg on a "good" week.)
If I'm on the freeway I try to put into 6 as soon as I can.

I use 5th gear the least.
The reason being, if you wind 4th out to around 4k, then you can slide right into 6th. Try it and you'll see it works great.
I can't believe someone never uses 6th! Speed is not the only issue when selecting a gear - "Engine Load" is equally important.
I have used 6th gear while putting down my residential neighborhood at 30mph and on the track at 140mph.
What you don't want to do is put stress on the drivetrain - for lack of a better phrase - you don't want to "Bog down the engine". You can hear it. In this car, if you peg the gas and the car isn't pulling then your in too high a gear. More acurately, you should never floor it unless the engine is within it's power band (1st gear not included) >2K rpm .
So while I am putt-ing along in 6th gear at 30 mph (getting 40mpg) I am very gentle on the throttle. If I need to accelerate quickly, I drop down to 2nd or 3rd. The goal is to get into 6th gear to save gas - admittingly, if you are racing from stoplight to stoplight then who cares.
My car has 11,000 miles and I drive about 50% highway. I dive fast and corner faster and get 21mpg average.
