The other 6MT owner here at work says he has never used 6th gear since he got the car last year. Told me he never gets it fast enough to use it (wussy). He lives in town though but still!

I find myself using 3rd the least of all.

Probably 5th gear by overall amount of time, followed by 3rd.
It's hard to find a place to drive in third in Chicago, so it's either 4th gear and go along with traffic, or 2nd, waiting to strike and pass the slow car in front of me if I'm feeling impatient. If I find myself in 5th, I will usually get into 6th in short order, since above 70mph and no traffic in front, there's not really a reason to run the higher revs of 5th.

 

I use the one labeled "R" the least. I prefer to drive forward.

i would have said 5th for sure..... if i am going fast enough to use fifth, i normally can put it into 6th and save gas....Ex. freeway.... BUt i guess it would be reverse.

i'd like to meet the guy who uses reverse more than any of the forward gears i think i use 5th the least amount of time, which leads me to a question: i use 6th gear quite a bit given that a lot of my driving is on the freeway at around 70mph. is there a rule of thumb as to what gear i should use at any given speed? will i cause damage to my engine if lets say i'm driving as low as 50mph in 6th gear? i try not to drive in any gear at rpms lower than 2k. although, my out-of-focus photographic memory leads me to believe that somewhere in the manual it mentions shifting to 6th at as low as 40mph to save gas.

 

This car has so much torque that a very high gear like 5th can accelerate the car at a decent rate from like 30mph. So no worries if you leave it in a high gear at slow speeds.

I once saw a guy make a left-hand turn at a light and go into traffic, all in reverse. I had to do a double-take. LoL. He did it about as well as I could going forward.

I use the auto-manual, but I have to say I use third the most. I can't believe anyone would use third least. I use third to pass, and often use it up to 60 or 70 just because it's more fun.

 

It's not only the torque that allows you to accelerate in 5th. 5th gear is 1:1. Most 6-speeds have 2 overdrive gears so 4th is usually 1:1. We only have 1.

Mine would probably be 5th. If I find myself cruising at 5th gear speed, most of the time it's one step before I upshift to 6th for just cruising along.

i use auto-manual normally after happy-hour, well heck i think i use the auto pilot too....who knows what gear i used less then..... we have six gears?!! lol i always thought that 6 and 'R' are the same thing. was wondering why some day it would go backward and some day would just go forward.
better cut down on the happy-hour trips!!
